Default Copy writing presentation/layout

Hi!

I'm not really familiar with copywriting for the web but there's seems to be only one lay-out or presentation used. White background, large fonts, red and yellow highlights. Is there a rule somewhere requiring this type of presentation? Thanks.

Hi Chadnirat,

Whilst I'm not a professional copywriter myself but the
reason why it's that way is because those have been
tested and proven to pull better responses and just
became the "unspoken standard".

White background - it's easier to read black text on a white
background compared white text on a black background.
It's also how most people are used to reading.

Red - It's known as an attention grabbing color. Anything
in red can pretty much grab attention.

Yellow highlights - it's just how we're used to using
yellow highlighters to highlight certain text... to highlight
black text on white background on a textbook. So it
stands out more.

You can try everything else... but perform it under a split
test... let the results determine your actions =)

Hope it helps!

Asher

It matters much more in Internet Copywriting, layout and presentation.

Why? Think computer-screen reading eyes. This is a lot more stressful than reading hard-copy. You need to make your copy easy to read, skimmer-friendly (think sub-headers), and appealing to look at.

That's why so much research has been done. And why some sites are much better at getting the message across to their readers than others.

Hope this helps,
Dot
