I just finished reading a thread about the new FTC ruling about a day or two ago and it started to make me think about what a lot of people who do with this new rule. I'm an affiliate (newbie) and I know that a lot of products (if not all of them) featured on clickbank contains some unbelievable testimonials. I didnt really know what to do.
Thats when my MAGNIFICENT idea hit me? What if some very good copywriters who could write great copy without those billions of testimonials wrote copy for the vendors on clickbank? I'm sure a lot of the vendors would be thrilled to have someone write copy for them that will still make sales but not undermine the FTC ruling. Now, I would do it myself but as you can probably tell from this post, I'm not a copywriter. So, it is up to you wonderful copywriters to find these desperate vendors and offer up your services. |

It is a great idea.
In fact, I happen to mention this exact same scenario on a blog post about the FTC. But you're 100% correct, there will be changes coming, and someone will have to make them. Peace, -Scott |

well your perfect for the job then. because a lot of copywriters USE testimonials. i dont know if they need them or they just feel like they cant function without them but they definitely are used in most copy.

Testimonials are over-rated.
I think most people doubt the authenticity of testimonials. Maybe it's just me... Also, when I go buy a new car, an example of something very expensive, I don't read or look at testimonials. If it's what I want, then I buy it. If not, then I don't... no matter what some glowing testimonials proclaim! Legitimate two-sided reviews have more significance to me. And if my B.S. meter starts flashing, then fake reviews don't mean squat either... I, for one, am glad the new FTC rules will chase the cons and liars back to their rat holes. |

yea... i never really read testimonials either. i just scroll right through them but everyone on vendor on clickbank seem to think that using testimonials in the copy is a rule that must not be broken.
