Default Local business needs landing page guy!

I am not an affiliate and I don't sell a product. I own an in home dog training company that services customers in central Florida. I have been using ppc to drive traffic to certain pages but I am writing the copy for these pages myself. They suck! My question is should I hire some to write landing pages for me? My time is limited and these pages are hurting my business.

Any advice would be great.

So, you're spending time writing this stuff, paying for traffic, and it's not converting?

I think you just answered your own question.

Good luck.

I have to agree with Scott. Hire someone if you have a budget. If you don't, then all I can say is spend more money on books and learning how to write copy that sells. It's not easy, but you only have a few assets here, time, money, or skill.

I have to say though, hiring a copywriter isn't the easiest thing to do either. At least finding a cheap one that can deliver. But if you have the cash go for someone with experience.

I have to agree with you guys I do need help but I tried to hire someone before and they basically wrote an article but nothing that would close a sale. So how do I go about finding someone?

#1 - stop throwing your $$$ down the toilet and immediately stop your PPC campaigns
#2 - hire a copywriter to write the copy which will convert your traffic so you are not wasting your money
#3 - if you do not want to pay to hire a copywriter then learn how to do it yourself

Best of Luck!

You want a guy who understands marketing AND copywriting...

If you post an ad for a sales letter, you'll get offers from $50 to $5,000+...

Check the people out. Do they have testimonials of clients actually making money off of the stuff they wrote?

Most copywriters who can produce don't seek out clients, clients seek them out.

Anyone can write a sales letter, it takes a LOT of hard work, natural talent and dedication to understand how to write one that produces leads and sales.

Peace,

-Scott

Justin no disrespect but until recently I have gotten 80% of my business from PPC that's not the problem. The problem is that when I wrote these pages we were in a better economy and almost anything I put up converted. Now I need something that really sells people on my services. Here are some links for anyone who think they may be able to help.

I think it really depends what kinda budget you have.

While there's a lot of guys out there who would write copy for pretzels... it's almost always because they're new to the whole game. I'd say put yourself out there with a budget and look for testimonials.

You're not gonna get the world's greatest copy for $500. But if that's what you have... then I guess you have to work with it.

Build the best offer you can. Gather all the proof you can. Videos, testimonials, pictures.

And make sure your copy is easy to read.

Or if you're lucky you'll find a new guy who's willing to split the profits instead of taking pay upfront.

Hope that helps. I think this is the right place to look but copywriter's who know what they're doing don't come cheap.

After just a quick peek and without enough information to give you any real
concrete advice...

I'd suggest you think about a full lead capture and sell by direct mail/phone...

Design a visually appealing landing page style and separate it from your
content site (it'll be in front of it, really, but let's not confuse matters).

Create a great info package / dvd mailer (possibly break it out by
breed/behavior problem)

Squeeze for the full lead (name, address, phone, dog info)

Follow up on leads via autoresponder, DM, and phone.

Best,

Brian

To be honest, the pages kept timing out, they took too long to load on my computer.

But from reading the thread, I'd say DEFINITELY stop the PPC until you get the copy fixed! I hate that I couldn't read it to give you better ideas on what was wrong.

I've been where you are (heck, I was homeless when I got my start) and having a sucking chest wound for a business really bites. PM me and I'll be willing to discuss options with you.

Regardless of what you decide to do, don't stop. That's a surefire way to fail. The fixes you need to make are likely very simple and won't be difficult to implement.

In the meantime, are you doing any marketing via mail, social networking, or have an email campaign?

Best of luck to you!

I actually wrote a page for one of your competitors a few months back. Since then they decided to move their business to another location and are no longer in your area, but the page I did got them some great leads.

They would then call/email them and had a pretty good response.

I'd recommend going with what was said above - a squeeze page that gets at the least email and phone number. You can then contact them to get more information.

Feel free to PM me and I'll give you some more detailed help.

Alright! I got to check out the Orlando page. Unfortunately, the video is covering up most of the information I wanted to read - the first words on your page! (I was looking at it in I.E.)

I would say at the very least, get a squeeze page up with an optin allowing folks to download a free report on the "Top 5 Toughest Battles Most Dog Owners Fight...Unnecessarily!" (or something to that affect) regarding training a dog incorrectly, or punishment vs. correction as it appears on your page. Then get them on an email campaign to sell them on you.

That way you're getting local information and can market to the dog owner directly.

You've also got a lot of potential with direct mail in this instance. Are you doing any of that?
