Default Sales Copy for Breakthrough Advertising

Does anyone have the original copy for Eugene Schwartz's book?

I'm trying to write copy for a book along a similar vein and it would be ideal.

Thanks.

Hi Rezbi,

I don't have it yet, but you can get a copy from Boardroom for $95 (1-800-678-5835.)

Cheers,
David

Think he's talking about the actual advertising copy used to sell the book when it came out, not "a copy" of the book. I may be mistaken, of course.

I for one had a look at the copy both at bottomlinesecrets.com and at rclb.com - but I don't think either one of those is the original. Still - the bottomlinesecrets (Boardroom) version could be something you could model.

Schwartz is best-known for his hammy, though killer, single-page
ads. I don't think the book was sold this way because, frankly,
it's way over most people's heads. He actually preferred the
longer format of direct mail letters, but I've only read a couple
of them - the one that comes to mind is his his copy for "Dr.
Chang's Book of Internal Exercises" - it's in Denny Hatch's awesome
book "Million Dollar Mailings", along with an interview with
Eugene about how he wrote ads.

Gene wrote copy for a lot of books, but most of the one's I've
seen have been for weight loss, memory, mind power - mass
market stuff... and "Breakthrough Advertising" is not a mass
market product by a long shot.

Anyway, Boardroom has a salesletter up, but it's predicated on
the mythology of the long-out-of-print book so probably won't
help you much because Boardroom re-issued the book to
capitalize on pent-up demand for the book - yours won't have
such an advantage.

Not exactly what I was after, but it'll do nicely.

Hey There,

I'm a big fan of the book and have read it a few times. I think it's the the best book every written on the subject. I purchased it from Clayton MakePeace for $95.00. Best money I ever spend.

Jimmy.
