Default Is there Any Hope? ...rip it up!

I don't claim any fame for being a copywriter...in fact, I write fiction... as you can or can't tell by the letter.

I know with any type of skillful writing...you either have it or you don't.

However, I admire the magic of the copywriting profession and wonder if there is any spark of talent in this sales letter.

The letter is entirely fictional, but I hope it contains some elements that might be considered copywriting. I apologize for posting the letter on the blog...it is the only web space I have availible.

Thanks in advance for your comments

Funny story... My best friend makes the world's greatest bbq sauce. No joke. Everyone who's tried it agrees.

It's a family recipe they've had for generations, they're not even allowed to write it down. Anyway, I'm trying to convince him that we could make this a million dollar business.

And I'd want to use a trial based model similar to yours, with recurring membership.

Anyway, on to your copy.

You can learn a lot about copywriting from reading/writing fiction. Stories sell.

Beyond the layout, some long paragraphs and some minor issues, I think you've got talent.

If you haven't done much studying on writing copy, spend a few weekends reading some books (check the sticky at the top)... I'd say you're talented enough and if you want to apply those talents to writing copy you've got the natural ability.

Good luck,

-Scott

Thanks Scott...your words are inspirational.

I have read several of the "How to guides" in the sticky list, though I find great variations in the methods and advice. I know the authors are probably successful copywriters...but it looks like to me there is no exact formula for writing good sales letters and is mostly trial and error...with experience.

I agree with Scott. I think you have writing talent. The story drew me in.

Go study some successful sales letters and learn the techniques. Add those to your storytelling ability and you'll have some powerful copywriting knowledge.

Good luck with your endeavors!
