We don't talk about it much here, but direct mail fund raising is a huge industry. The need to be altruistic is a strong emotion in a lot of people. Alex |

Hi Justin, You are right, regarding the list and the letter framing. Very well done. But I believe you are also missing a key ingredient, making it sound easier than it might be. Rick Warren has a reputation. He has a brand. His words are extremely relevant to the people that he connects with. But more importantly he has a DEEP AFFINITY with his congregation. His people would crawl across broken glass to help him and smile while doing it. That to me, IS "the secret sauce." - Rick Duris PS: And if anyone has a copy of that letter, I am sure folks would be able to learn from it. I know I would. |

Oh come on. Calling Rick Warren a "California pastor" and saying all he had was a letter and a list is like calling Hillary Clinton a "mom in New York State" and saying all she had to do to raise millions of dollars was make a bunch of phone calls. True but highly, highly misleading. Marcia Yudkin |

reminds me of the old fund raising letter by Harv somebody I had a copy at one time but what he did was Challenge the people to match his own contribution and got something like an 80% response rate. maybe some of the old farts around here remember more fo the details. I can say that because I am one. |
