I have an infected tooth

Hi Guys and Gals,

I have an infected tooth, but I don't have the money for a professional dentist. I know a dentist could do a good job for me, but it's just one tooth and I figured even though it won't be as good, I could pull it myself.

Can anyone give me any tips that can help me do it myself? I appreciate your time in helping pull this tooth--it's really important to me to get it done right.

Well, I really don't want to leave my house. I have agoraphobia (which I used to think was a fear of sweaters until I found out that was angoraphobia.) Maybe you could call and find out for me if they will maybe come to my house and treat me there?

I'd love to help but times are tough for all of us, there's just no way I could afford the string and the postage to the US.

For a zero budget solution you could always try running face first into a wall.

I tried that, but the tooth is in the back of my mouth and I ended up giving myself a bloody nose.

You don't realize what a spot I'm in. Getting this tooth pulled is key to my whole future.

How about this: You come to my home, pull my tooth and I will give you a glowing testimonial you can use in the future?

We've all been there at sometime or another, if you can just make it through this then you can achieve anything.

You have to pull the tooth first and see how that goes before I can promise you more work.

How about I let you make a video of you pulling the tooth you can then sell as a "self-help" dental product? I won't even charge you, I'll let you use it for free.

I'd suggest you go over to DentistWarriorForum.com and ask for advice on pulling teeth. I know there are a lot of really nice dentists there who would love to help.

You might even come up with a plan or two of your own and toss it out for review. But be careful, those guys are temperamental and prone to disagreements over the best methods for DIY people.

If that doesn't work do what Tom Hanks did in Castaway. Oh, wait. You'd need a rusty ice skate for that. Never mind. Unless you have an old tire iron laying around...

"First - grab the pliers"

A poll last year of 2,631 British adults found 8% had tried to fix their own dental problems - and a similar number knew somebody who had tried.

Of those who admitted trying the DIY approach, one in four had tried to pull out a tooth using pliers.

12% of those who had tried DIY techniques had tried to extract a tooth by using a piece of string tied to a door handle.

Some 30% of DIY dentists had tried to whiten their teeth with household cleaning products.

Other DIY procedures people admitted to included:

• Using household glue to stick down a filling or crown (11%)
• Popping an ulcer with a pin (19%)
• Trying to mend or alter dentures (8%)
• Trying to stick down a loose filling with chewing gum (6%)

This is the kind of reply that just makes me mad. You don't offer free help, you just try to send me someplace else. Sure, you've already made it and now you just don't have time to help the little guy.

If you had bothered to read my posts you would already know I don't have any pliers. This is really frustrating. It's like you guys expect me to already know how to pull my own tooth before I can ask for help.

I wish one of you just had an ounce of compassion on someone who is struggling.

That's just the problem--I don't have any money. That's why I am here. I was told I could come here and the professionals here would fix all my problems for free. Now I find out people like you are just trying to get money out of me.

FWIW, I don't begrudge newbie marketers on a shoestring budget who want to get all the help they can on the cheap.

I also don't begrudge newbie copyguys eager to PM anybody who looks like they may bite a well-baited hook.

I furthermore don't begrudge grizzled copy vets/curmudgeons who enjoy shaking their fists at the handout seekers.
