Hi there, I had a coaching calling with Bret Thonson (an Aussies copywriting expert) and he told me having a light blue background (Robbin's Egg Blue) has been tested and proven to be the best color for conversions. I am testing it on one of my sites: Read Japanese | Learn how to read real Japanese - learn hundreds of Japanese words, phrases and kanji characters Just wondering if anyone knows this or been told this??? Cheers |

(In case anyone is interested, according to Wikipedia the hex for Robin's Egg Blue is #00CCCC) I haven't heard before that this particular color increases conversions, I would think it would vary from niche to niche and culture to culture, but I haven't tested it. |

There are a lot of variables to testing anything for response. If it turns you on to test background colors, play with it, but will you refrain from testing anything else while you play with colors... at least until you have a statistically meaningful sample to draw inferences from? The primary colors generally work pretty well in direct response. Many of them contrast well together. Warmer colors (yellow, orange) for order forms are said to outpull (like blue) cooler order form colors in direct mail. |

The point is that if the color blue makes you inherently/subconsciously more likely to buy is interesting, like the fact that oranges and red make a person hungry (think McDonalds and Burger King) are scientifically proven. Why are you testing it yourself, ask Bret Thonson where he gets his numbers and testing from and that it is an isolated test of the color and pointed out. I think if this was significant though in comparison to other techniques that are used, we would already find that most offer pages etc would be a light blue.. or whatever color that encourages buying. |

What has tested best for me in almost every case is white foreground on white background with no border. Yep... you heard right. |

He probably got it from '43 Proven Split Tests' by Ryan Deiss. Ryan claims that robin egg blue (he gives it as 6495ED) triggers trust and increases conversions by 31%.

I believe he got this from a Deiss/Belcher split test product.
