I don't agree with the 'evil' tag; coming from a different time, they're almost coming from a different culture. Things have moved on quite a bit since then...

I've seen many war-time propaganda ads which are much more evil... basically because they're outright lies.

And that still happens now, but cigarette ads have been banned.
