Default Copywriting Confidential - tales from the underbelly

How's your week? Mine's been a bit of a horror-show. Been mucked around by several clients. Be a great business if it weren't for them. But I just remembered this quote and it's helped re-charge my batteries. Maybe it'll help you too. Take no prisoners!

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.– Calvin Coolidge

The mediocre person who is persistent will out-do the lazy genius anytime.

That's been my moto as long as I can remember. It had to be seeing as how I'm far from being a genius.

I came across an interesting moto the other day. The Americans liberated it in Germany at the end of the war. A front-wheel drive 1938 600cc Killinger & Freund motorbike.

Here's a Headline for you Subtle -

Imagine What We'd be Riding
if the Krauts had Won the War
Killinger & Freund
- the autobahn killer

Arr shaddap! You're diverting me from my copywriting with fascinating stories about things I've NEVER shown an interest in before!

btw - I have known contract work of one kind or another since the mid 1980's. I've dealt with some pretty difficult clients through the decades.
Maybe I've got something for you. Want to PM me the problem?

Bill

I don't have a problem. Just bought a gun. Actually I do have a problem. Running WSOs attracts too many "bottom-feeders". There - I've said it. People who seem to think it's OK to pick my brains for a week, take my advice, use me up - and my time's worth nothing to them. But on the other hand it's also attracted some great clients. Things are cooking today. Or as they used to say in "Dad's Army" - "Don't panic!"

p.s. notice you're driving one of thoise sh*tbox Fiats. Nothing but trouble. me - I'm into old Benzs. My hack is a '93 300E with only 107k on the clock. Best Benz they ever made. Built like a Panther tank.

That's a damn-good quote! I have read it before, but never knew Coolidge made it up...

" You can either give a man a fish and feed him for a day OR teach him how to catch a fish and it will feed him for a lifetime"
