Default Which subject line increased sales 1,294%?

I got an email this morning from Bob Serling with these three headlines:

Cut and paste email increases response 142%
Here's exactly why you aren't getting any traffic
What I taught the French about romance

Which had the best conversion and which had the best ROI? This short promo video for a new course he will be giving has the answers (not an affiliate link):

Profilt Alchemy

Note that the first 5 minutes or so have the answers and commentary on the above headlines, while the remaining 5 minutes talk about a new course he will be offering.

I'm not convinced that headlines by themselves are sufficient to judge results without knowing the audience, etc. But I found the short video fascinating.

He doesn't explain in detail why the 3rd subject line made a bigger profit. I'll tell you why...

The word "romance" is a hypnotic word that makes the readers mind start wandering, and the "French"? Why would the French be better at romancing than I am?

It challenges the reader and adds a nostalgic emotional moment. It touches human emotion within a specific group of readers, and although, this subject line pulled the weakest which was expected with such a boring subject line, it got the attention of the focus group.

Take care,

If I'm reading and interpreting what you wrote correctly, the target audience would be people who are less analytical and more emotional?

And the emotional reader would just be more motivated to buy which is what this copy was all about ?

I hadn't been thinking along the lines you stated, so thanks for the mind expanding thoughts. This adds a new dimension for me to think about in terms of headlines.
