Default Frank Kern's Inappropriate Advertising...

I think this is called irony.

Take a close look at the copy. How amusing, how ironic!

I love that guy, as a person, I really think he's cool beans. (I think that's what he would say.)

But professionally? Well...

Frank Kern glides above the earth because the ground is not good enough to meet his feet.

He is successful because he doesn´t seem as desperate as many others, and he is really personal in all his email. Like him a lot

He's successful because he doesn't come across as someone trying to be successful.

ok, maybe it's not that ironic after all...

Look at the title. Now look at the last sentence of the body copy.

Inappropriate? Yeah, spot on.

Unless I've totally lost my sense of humour... and he was just joking. I hope he was just joking. You can't tell in this "modality" though

The foul-mouthed, guitar-playing surfer dude thing is his marketing persona.

Matthew Lesko acts excitable and wears suits with question marks all over them. That's his marketing persona.

Six of one, half dozen of another.

I suspect the most inappropriate thing about this video is the use of "morbidly".

My father and grandfather were both southern charismatic preachers. Kerns is nothing new. Check out an old film called Marjoe, if you ever get the chance.

I don't mind his language to be honest. His speaking gigs are a collosal waste of time, though. If I paid that cash to attend a seminar, I wouldn't want to sit there for 30 mins without a single piece of content being shared.

What I was referring to is the fact that his Advert reads "Inappropriate Advertising" and then his body copy claims that he's the highest paid Internet marketing consultant on Earth.

Huge lol at the inappropriate claims made in an "Inappropriate Advertising" ad.

Morbidly works here. The brain is predicting the next word will be 'obese.' When it isn't, Broca's area says, "Hey, this doesn't fit the known pattern," and kicks it over to the prefrontal cortex for attention and possible action.

Kern must have him an fMRI and an EEG...maybe even an EEEG.

Exactly. I've seen photos of him before he "transmogrified" into a hip, surfer dude. He looked like any other average guy. He didn't stand out.

Adopting his new persona was the most brilliant marketing move he ever made. It was so successful that his cousin, Trey, now sports the same look. (Hey, it worked for Frank.)

Well, gotta run. I'm going out to get a bottle of hair dye and a surf board...

John

Then presumably my Broca's area is wired differently. I just thought, "Pretentious malapropism."

Yup, I got that. And the most morbid thing about the use of the word "morbidly" is that it killed my interest.

Broca? You must be a Roy Williams aficionado. I see you live in Texas -- have you ever been to his Wizard's Academy?

That just shows how little you know about super-groovy, "ninja" marketing strategies.

No, it functioned in a perfectly normal manner. You noticed it, gave it further attention and rejected it. Increased interest and clicking through would be another normal response.

ummmmmmmm...ok.

Maybe I'm way off base here, but if I had think that much in order to write a good ad, sales page or make money online I'd be working for someone else.

Been there a few times. It's a beautiful place.

The way Roy teaches the subject provides an excellent frame work for understanding what happens cognitively when someone reads your ad.

You can write great stuff without knowing any of this. Just like there are great painters who don't understand color theory or great guitar players who can't read music.
