Copywriter and SEO

Just wondering how many in this community cover both search engine optimization and copywriting? Personally I am grateful that I do possess talents in both fields.

I do SEO for my sites but copywriting, does that have to do something with blogs??? I don't know what does copywriting mean in terms of SEO..

I do both, but I don't do copywriting myself, I research profitable niches,
then formulate tasks and hire quality copywriters to do the job for me.

Content is indeed the KING, and it has to be great!
So my firm beleive is Content is best to be left to professionals

The major difference between copy and seo is - you could outsource seo for a lot less money than you could, say, outsource a good copywriter. So in reality if I needed seo, I'd just have someone else do it and then worry about finding the resources for the copy. seo is a pain in the ass for me.

With SEO, the search engines could change their algorithms overnight, and you're screwed.

Also, with SEO, it's nearly impossible to write an effective direct response sales piece.

A better idea is to buy traffic.

I think there was some guy talking about on-page SEO here and how using semantics/keywords in your writeup could serve well for on page SEO. If that's the case it changes the game because you'd be letting google know about your content / sales page without having to riddle your copy with keywords that don't fit.

While I'm not an authority on SEO that's the rumor. I would rather buy the traffic like Alex said, it just fits into the "direct response" model but SEO has its place in IM for sure.

Exactly what "place" does SEO have in IM? Selling magic bullet products on the subject to opportunity seekers?

Great responses folks so thanks for that. I really believe its extremely useful to have both talents in your tool belt for sure. I think it was Alex that mentioned time...well yea...it occupies a lot more of my time than say if I were just doing copy. Not to mention I also do web design and graphic design also. IM A CONTROL FREAK. I cant possible outsource my work. I'm too particular.

PS: i do believe that copy comes in the most handy while writing onsite SEO.
