Well, I'm a copywriter and,to be honest, I'm kind of an introvert anyway... so... I feel sort of alone in the world [maybe you feel the same way]... Like no-one really gets what I'm doing or why I'm doing it. Of course, I'm talking about being a free lance copywriter and writing copy for my own products. Everyone in my Family thinks I'm nuts.... I kind of am haha... but I just thought it would be cool to meet some copywriters on here. Just to hang out with. I don't want this to seem weird at all. I just thought there might be some cool people out there who kinda feel the same way I do because, either you havent made it yet [as a copywriter] and, people think your nuts.. or.. because people just think your crazy in general. So hey, if you want someone cool you share something in common with [copywriting] then send me a private message. or just reply to the post. It would be awesome to get to know some like-minded people. |

Copywriting is a serious job and could make the difference between a moderate company and a company that makes millions due to proper copy writing! I'm getting better at copywriting myself but it's still very hard. Choosing the wrong words even once make a difference in sales.

Hahah. Dude, because I've gone competently insane over copy writing. I write/study for hours and hours. Anyway, yeah.. you're right. It makes a huge difference in the bigger picture. Without good copy you don't get any customers... or... not very many. And, without customers you make no money. Simple but powerful. So, how long have you been learning about copy and, what do you do? Internet marketing, your own thing or do you free lance? |

Don't worry, my family doesn't get it either! I do it because I cant afford childcare and stay at home with the kids - its a great way to earn money and I must admit, it is lonely, but i have some great online friends and besides, I find my own solitude best when working - which is why I often get up early morning before the kids are awake to work - so much more peace than in the evening when there is always someone or the other popping in. But hey, it pays the bills and it's never been better for me, so even though its lonely, I can live with it. |

Okay, exactly who told you to never go out and talk to a customer or get to know people? Copywriting is in large part a people business. Human factors. Applied psychology. Sorry to break this to you, but a conversational tone is best achieved by a conversationalist. Salesmanship in print. ...Have you ever met a sales person? Not exactly hermits we're talking about here. |

There's no need to feel the loneliness of the long distance runner. Reach out and build alliances with other copywriters. E-mail back 'n' forth... chat on Skype. Give constructive thoughts on each other's work. Take that a step further and meet up with colleagues at seminars. Two recent events where a lot of copywriters got to hang were JV Alert Orlando and Carlton's Action Seminar in San Diego. --- Ross |

| I would also like to say: make friends offline as fast as possible.. there is a life outside of the internet. Then I would meet with them once a week... at a bar, maybe a coffee shop; whatever suits your needs, you could always try to work with other marketers in the area. They don't have to be copywriters.. You're the copywriter. network NOW

I think this feeling is normal you must understand that people that don't make a living online have no idea and really have a hard time relating to what we do. Point is ... Don't let it bother you so much .. its normal.

| Sure that's easy for us to do but for someone that isn't trying to create change, the territory is different.. but that's only maybe part of the outcome ... now what he has to do is find out the difference that makes a difference ... the black box between himself and the outcome he is looking for.

FuturePrinceofPrint... I think that you work too much! Aside from social relations, I think that it is indispensable to have a good idea of what there is on offer out there in terms of products, and how customers behave in front of a product and the sales assistant, the questions they ask, the comments etc. I just wish I had more time for this kind of research (possibly from September) because I really think it is important. I would love some exchange of opinions with some other website builders, but it is just that at the moment I have done so little that I don't think I am any good to anybody! |

| You're right Cory.. People just aren't gonna get it. It would just be cool to hang out with people who actually did get it.. You know what I mean?

Hey thanks Ross, You're absolutely right and this is what I was trying to do... Reach out to other copywriters through the warrior forum. I knew about the Carlton seminar but, I never did hear about the JV Alert seminar. What's that all about?

Ken McArthur's - jvAlert Live! If you get on Ken's main JV Alert Live list (jvalertlive.com), then you'll get details about the next one in Washington DC in June when Ken sends them out.

Like Ross said, start doing some networking and make some copywriting friends. It helps with the periodic cases of loneliness. I'm married with 2 young kids so I treasure the quiet time in my office every day.

I checked out the website you posted and, I had never heard Ken McArthur. Very interesting though. I saw your testimonial and I found myself wondering, how in the hell did you go from owning your own message therapy business to copywriting.. It seems like a huge leap. Maybe you wrote your own copy and sent it through the mail to get the business booming? Anyway, like I said, thanks for the post.. I enjoyed it

I wrote all of the marketing and advertising (offline and online) for my massage therapy center... I also manage and trained the staff (7 therapists and 2 admin people) and even saw a full client load... 110+ hours/week for a lot of years. Copywriting... I completely fell into the industry. You can get the abridged version of the story on my copywriting website. Take care, Mike
