Default I bet your clients overlook this

I just posted this thread over in the main forum, but then it hit me...

Who better to ask about an ebook title than a bunch of copywriters? Afterall, a title is basically a headline, right?

I bet your clients already have their ebooks created before they ever ask you to write a single word of copy. Big mistake, I think. If they let you help with the title, it would make your entire sales page more cohesive.

At any rate, here's what I posted in the main forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, peeps. Who's up for helping me do a little market research for an ebook?

Here's the deal. I just finished writing and editing a new ebook in the Pick-up/Dating niche that's coming at the problem from a completely new angle.

In a nutshell, after years of improving my poker game to the point where I was able to earn a nice part-time living from it, I had one of those "lightbulb moments" and realized that the basic principles and strategies I was employing at the table in order to increase my odds of success were just as applicable to attracting women.

Well, I love testing new theories, so I did exactly that ... using myself as the guinea pig ... and found success beyond my my wildest hopes.

My formerly weak "game" with women was no longer a drag on my love life. For the first time in my life, I felt confident and capable in approaching women. I never thought I'd be that guy, but there I was. It was like being reborn--it literally changed my life.

Anyway, I'm still kicking around a few titles in my head because the subject matter is such an odd fusion of themes. The following are some of the ideas I came up with. If you don't mind, please pick the one you like the best on a purely gut level or suggest your own changes and tweaks. Read them carefully because some of the choices vary only slightly from the others.

Also, is anyone here interested in a WSO on this book? If there's interest, I'll launch one.

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure what "Stacking the Deck" means. How about something simple like...

"Why Poker Players Get More Girls!

You aught to think more about who your deck targets too. For example "A Poker Player's Guide To Winning the Girl of Your Dreams" sounds like maybe this is FOR poker players, and not BY a poker player.

Also, I second testing.

Definitely test different product names. Focus on a targeted catchy name that is still respectful to women.

Something that women would find disrespectful could sink your product online.

Similar but revelant story...

In one of his older seminar tapes, Dan Kennedy tells the story of a guy who was selling a "how to get lucky with women" book in 1970's by mail order. The ad had a 24/7 toll-free number. Free to call from anywhere because the product seller is paying by the minute for the call.

Well, scores of angry women would call the 800 number, wait for the call to be picked up and just put the phone down on the desk or counter and walk away. It would tie up the 800 number for incoming calls. It wound up racking up such a high phone bill for the product seller that they had the 800 number disconnected and went with an ordinary phone number instead.

Lesson learned... be respectful of women with your product & it's title. These days, with the power of the internet, who knows what kind of anger-driven headaches they could create for you if you don't.

Good luck,

Mike

Whatever you do, don't make the "Poke Her" pun.
