Hello , when I write I say the words then type it down. This Helps me think through the sentence or paragraph. Also it helps me type faster as I know whatr I'm writing. |

Most of the time I use Dragon for the rough draft, and deliberately start with a lot more information than I intend to use in the final draft. I like to set it aside for a couple of days so what I intended to say is not uppermost in mind, then continue the rest of the process manually. Usually, that's two or three passes - a bit excessive for most writers, but it's crucial to my target audience. I've found that reading the text aloud is very useful when you're editing, proofreading, rewriting and especially reading it aloud from start to finish one last time immediately before you release the final draft. [Interesting enough, a lot of that information that doesn't make the cut is not "waste" but the seed for future articles, e-mails, or projects.] | |

I've tried to get used to Dragon NS several times. Unfortunately, it struggles to recognise broad Cockney when you've got a cigarette and a cup of coffee to your lips.

Haha, I thought I was the only one. I do it when it's something kinda serious / difficult (I really want it to be good). My wife thinks I've finally gone insane.

While writing, only when I'm really into it. Reading aloud does help me edit and proofread after the fact.

That's a good approach to writing. I'll never forget one high school English teacher urging me to simply write essay the same way I talk. That's some of the best advice I ever received. So I think the way you do it is right in line with that great professional advice I received. |

I try to write like I talk but I don't talk when I write. But now I'll have to try this. |

I wonder what would happen if we tried to talk like we write. "I wonder where shall we dine tonight," he said to himself. "Maybe at the local restaurant, or would you prefer that it would be the one on the outskirts of town? What say you?" Mate, I got no idea what's go inta ya, but I ain't eatin' no skirt, out or in. |

It'd be much more fun if we wrote like we talked: "Cor blimey, guv'nor! What about a quick shifty down the old rub-a-dub? I fancy getting brahms tonight then picking up a ruby at that place where you fell down the apples and pears last time." One of the reasons why I continue to avoid Skype wherever possible. |

I always speak as I type...it somehow comes out more real that way. It has a better flow and ring to it as well. I feel like I can frame things better. |

Normally, I don't speak and type when writing short notes or messaging on my mobile but I do speak aloud and type when the writing is longer. It sort of help me keep my focus and hear if the grammar sounds correct. I'm quite a perfectionist so, after writing, I will proof read aloud again. |

I do that quite often. My other activity is prayer - I find that I am more focus when I pray out loud |

It helps at times.. especially in trying to recall a particular word. It helps me think of the next word that I'm going to include in my article. I don't know how but it just works! |

Whoa...this is a daunting question by which I'm confused! ![]() This may sound really screwed up, but when I write, it's as if there's a voice in my head dictating the words, and often when I reflect on what I've wriiten, I often question; "where the hell does this stuff come from?" Honestly, I am affraid to pursue my writing as it often seems like I tapped into someone else's mind, and they spoke it into existence through me....kinda scary! Not sure if that makes any sense...I definitely love writing, it's like meditation, and highly therapuetic, just not sure how to test the waters to see if I am worthy enough to actually get paid for it? ![]() To answer the question, I am usually silent and surreal, and feel I am just trying to type as fast as it comes to mind. A task I've yet to master. Peace |

Ha yeah, I find myself doing this when I am trying to articulate a complex idea. Not really when I am writing an email to a friend, although I definitely think about each word as I type it.

Yup I always do, it helps me piece the words together and make a sentence...otherwise I'd be typing gibberish all the time.

There's a psychological aspect towards the auditory and verbal parts of the brain. If you speak, the brain receives signals of sound, causing a feedback loop that allows your brain to stream information continuously. There are also studies where if you read out information as compared to silently verbalizing them, you'd have a higher chance of memory (which means stronger synapses in the brain). |

I enjoy writing but I find the process of getting exactly what I want to say across extremely frustrating. So yes, I certainly say things aloud while I'm writing, but they certainly aren't words I'd be able to publish anywhere respectable!

I find myself muttering at times and listening to the voice that dictates in my head, lol. I do speak out loud as I prof read, I find it helps. My girlfriend always ask me who I'm talking to, she thinks I'm crazy, maybe I am but it helps.
