Hey warriors, I'm looking for the most comprehensive but still easy to use conversion rate/split testing software available. Please let me know if you can recommend anything that matches this description. James, |

I agree with Stephen Dean. There are several out there but Google Optimizer is really all you need!

Over the years, I've used a number of different software scripts. I've narrowed it down to two: 1) Split Test Accelerator 2) Google Website Optimizer The big difference between the two is how they come up with the numbers. STA uses the Taguchi method, which uses algorithms (fractational factorial?) which are able to select a winner MUCH faster than through standard testing. GWO uses standard testing, with no algorithms. What you see is what you get. STA charges almost $900 for the product, GWO is free. If you're doing A/B, A/B/C testing, then GWO is probably best. BUT... If you're doing multivariate testing, then use STA. Here's why: Let's say you want to test 6 headlines, 3 opening paragraphs, 3 closes, & 3 price points SIMULTANEOUSLY. That would give you 6 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 162. 162 different iterations that your test has. You need 162 unique viewers to go through all the combinations. Depending on the amount of traffic you're running to that page, it could literally take months to get an final answer. But if you're using Taguchi, then you would get your answer (again, depending on traffic) exponentially quicker. For me, the downside of STA is that it's not compatible with Wordpress (at least it wasn't the last time I talked to Jim Stone). But, I do love the product. Cheers, -Andrew |
