Is it? Or do you like it? Personally I loved every episode of it, the only thing I am disappointed in is the lack of reality. Like an ad man can just disappear from his office for three weeks to get drunk and high with some inbred hippy family 2000miles away. Also, I don't like that Don does absolutely nothing but showing up at 2 minute meetings and unloads a bunch of ideas and that is it. What I do like though is the liquor during work hours, every time somebody asks for a pencil the pour a glass. The downside however, everybody drinks and drives, way to go ad man. Ok so what I really wanted to know is, who watched it and did you like it? *pours a glass of Jack* Mark |

Nice Response! Love the show and love the idea! Have relatives that vouche for the lifestyle. Can still be done today, just gotta be a bit more crafty... Either way, nice post. Chris P.S. I'm old enough to have caught the tail end of advertising as it was. Sometimes I miss those three hour lunches. I love Madmen. Unfortunately here in the UK, the next series is no longer on a free-to-view channel. |

its very unrealistic. i went to advertising school (Miami Ad School | Top Advertising Schools - Study Advertising at the Best Schools in USA or abroad in case you're curious) Many of my friends work in big ad agencies. they work like 29 hours a day. They live in their offices. Some often sleep in their offices they work so much. Concepting takes a LOOOONG time... Oh and the pay is dirt in the beginning... |

Gahh...! Mad Men is my favorite show! And Jon Hamm definitely one of my favorite actors... so I have to defend the show... I wouldn't know about the 60s. The "laid back, relaxed" attitude I don't know about. But think about any high-stress industry (investment banking comes to mind, since I have a lot of banker friends) and there are some lifestyle similarities: pretending to work when you're not, late hours, nights out with clients.... On an even more serious note, is anyone else not disappointed that the next season is coming out so late? |

Love Mad Men. I was always curious how realistic the show was to the time period... My absolute FAVORITE quote from the show (thus far).. “When a man walks into a room, he brings his whole life with him. He has a million reasons for being anywhere. Just ask him. If you listen, he’ll tell you how he got there, how he forgot where he was going, and then he woke up. If you listen, he’ll tell you about the time he thought he was an angel, or dreamt of being perfect. And then he’ll smile with wisdom, content that he realised the world isn’t perfect. We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined, because we get these things, and wish for what we had.” excerpt from Mad Men, “The Summer Man” |

Mad Men's the best show on tv right now! I can't believe I was so late to get on board. I've knocked out all the seasons on DVD over the last two months. AMC's killing it right now- Mad Men, The Killing, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad. |

Mad Men is a show, just so you don't think I merging fiction and reality, but Draper is supposed to be a genius Ad Man. Based loosely on David Ogilivy, Draper and the Agency are closest your going to get to the great Age of Advertising on a TV Show. Tobacco causes cancer but as Draper, in First Series, said with Lucky Strike Cigarettes...they are "toasted"! Genius |

Mad Men is a quality show. Not that relevant to today's situation. But harkens to the past. Enjoy it a lot. |
