Well, for a copywriting course, the copy is not great.
They lost me before I could finish the first paragraph. Actually, I forced my self to read a little more until they were talking about how importance the difference between 'everything' and 'anything' is.
Now, I understand what they are trying to say, from a copywriters point of view. But from a prospects point of view they have lost me.
The whole thing doesn't make sense. And this goes on through out the whole letter.

Anyway that was not your question, I have not heard of this before and if I judge by the Alexa rank of 5Mil+, the 32 backlinks and the fact that the domain was registered in 2007, I would guess that not many people have.

I can tell you that if you want to learn about copy, Trevor Crook
is worth checking out. He was giving away a copywriting course
a while back - still is it looks like:

Free Copywriting Blueprint : Trevor Crook

His emails are pretty entertaining.

There are a whole bunch of books worth reading before investing
in spendier courses, imo. Not saying you haven't read them, btw.

I've gone through this course and the person who makes it worthwhile is Ted Nicholas.

However, if it is Ted you want to learn from, you'd be better off going to his site and getting his bootcamp course.

Here's the link: The Million Dollar Copywriting Bootcamp

That copy is tight.

The copy is terrible. And I don't like to criticize. (I also THINK I know who wrote it too).

Completely misses the mark. Fails to tap into why they'd buy copywriting course, so it heads off in completely the wrong direction from the beginning.

Interestingly enough though for a 3 day course with Ted Nicholas and Trevor Crook (sorry, don't know who Peter Woodhead is) plus all the bonuses it's actually teriffic value and for $297 you can't really go wrong.

If the copy was written well this could be a HUGE hit if it was niched to sell to the beginner copywriters market.

Ever wondered how copywriters work with their clients? I've answered that very question in detail-> www.salescomefirst.com

The copy to that letter can be made tighter. He hasn't backed up two big claims at the beginning. Those claims being "the highest paid copywriter" and "copy is king".

I'm not saying they aren't correct, just saying for every big promise or statement needs to be backed up by some sort of proof...as Gary Bencivenga has said.

To further make my case I would back it up with a quote from Gary, just as I would expect Ted to quote another source.

I've bought his books and paid to hear him speak...just doesn't mean this piece [if he did write that piece] couldn't be made better.

Best,
Ewen

Thanks guys, but maybe I should ask a bigger question. I've had some experience in copywriting but I feel that my copy still really misses the big mark. I really would like to immerse myself in a bootcamp sort of environment where I have to be really hammer - I find that I learn very quickly in that environment. So, saying all of that, and without going broke on a very expensive course, what do you folks recommend? (And I do apologize for asking the same question asked, oh, 1,000 times here, lol.)

On a secondary note, what grabbed me in the copy were two things. First, it did flow a bit. Ted introduced the second speaker. Second, I did get some nuggets from the videos. Though, I think that sales page was written about 4 years back. But I know that copywriting is copywriting. So I did find it a bit 'old'. But it did make me want to almost pull out my wallet. I also liked the fact that there was more then one speaker speaking. I know about Ted, but the others - not so much. So I continue to seek if someone has heard more about the course.

Cheers,

Frank

In the words of Ted Nicholas (summarized)... Opinions don't mean jack. You have to look at the numbers.

$4900000000 in sales.

That's why I learn copywriting from Ted Nicholas. There is something different about his stuff. It seems weak to some because its not salesy but it makes billions in sales.

If this ad doesn't make you want to buy then you're not the target market.

I'm sure this sales message truly moves the intended prospect.

That's what I like about Ted's stuff, too. It really does read like he's just chatting with you.

And there are no wasted words.

Okay, I'm not having a go at you, so don't take this the wrong way.

That out of the way, I'd love to see your improvements. Let's see how you'd tighten it up.

See how Gary Bencivenga infuses proof elements in these 2 pieces.

Marketing Bullets

Bencivenga 100 Seminar

They are in the conversation and added in side bars.

He still used it even when his target audience mostly knew his credentials.

It's adding to the social proof when others are quoted.

Once read, go back to the letter promoting Ted's product.

See if you can see any proof elements.

Gary said he beat other A list copywriters in split tests by having more and stronger proof elements.

I don't know, but I suspect Ted's piece was written by someone other than Ted.

Best,
Ewen

P.S. A quote from Clayton Makepeace "Only a handful of copywriters in our generation have ever competed at anywhere near Gary Bencivenga's level over the long haul. And if our little fraternity held an election today, Gary would be unanimously elected King. Gary showed us the way, and we worship the ground he walks on."

Just went back in to Ted's product promo.

I see there is buy button that's been murdered by the Belcher Button.

It makes me, again, wonder if the piece has been split tested at all.

Best,
Ewen
