This has bugged me for awhile for some reason so I plan to test it next week. But off the top of your head what works best for you personally. Exposed or Revealed. For example - Top 10 Supermarket Secrets Exposed - Top 10 Supermarket Secrets Revealed Thanks for your response. |

Of the 2, probably Revealed works best, but I would suggest trying exposed with a bit more copy, such as Top 10 Dirty Pricing Tricks Of Supermarkets Exposed, or whatever the case may be. The headlines below don't actualyl tell me what secrets you are selling - pricing tricks, how to run a supermarket, how to get bargains at the supermarket...? ![]() Quote:

'Exposed' suggests insider information that has been made public by accident or unwillingly. Therefor it may be perceived as more credible. 'Revealed' has a little mysterious ring to it and may suggest that information that is being revealed is outdated. Why else would someone reveal 'secrets'. Now, this is just theory and everything depends on what your prospects level of expertise is. If you are in the IM niche than both may not have the effect that you wanted since they are used so often. Hope that made sense. Mark |

To be honest, I would use neither. They're both overused and people have become immune to them in my opinion. They both smack of false sensationalism. Too often we see things 'exposed' or 'revealed' which turn out to be 'boring', 'pointless' or even 'yesterday's news'. A better word might be 'explained' - removes the sensationalism and cuts to the chase. |

are not overused--there are just so many of them. These words will always work even if the MARKETER is tired of them. As a copywriter I have to be careful that I don't get in the way of the reader. Because I use the same words over and over again doesn't reduce their effectiveness to the prospect. Marketers are sure to get fed-up of their message quicker than the market. My 2 cents--both words have a difference in meaning. "Exposed" suggests that the information could be embarrassing to someone, while "revealed" is a little 'cleaner'. -Ray Edwards

The meaning is essentially the same, but the "flavor" is a little different for each. Which you should use depends on your audience. A "SuperMarket" crowd is mostly women between the ages of 30-50. Because "Exposed" has an element of naughtiness or shock value (not inherently but as a product of modern advertising and jargon), "Revealed" seems much more appropriate for this audience, as the word is more dignified and implies that something is being given for the sake of knowledge, NOT for shock value. Of course, if you're trying to target 25-45 year old men looking for creatine supplements at the supermarket, then of course you would use "Exposed." However, you could just as easily use either word and the meaning remains intact. |

Only an a/b split test will tell. Google optimizers opinion is the only one that matters.

Personally, I'm not a fan of either in this context/instance. Not saying neither will not work but for me in this context the headline doesn't seem to BUILD enough.. Top 10 just doesn't do it for me (just my opinion). Anyone can form a top 10... but if I was being LIED to? I'd want to know about it! Needs to be stronger... Some better examples: - 10 Monster Supermarket LIES Finally Exposed! (i think exposing a lie works nicely) - 10 Whooper Supermarket LIES Finally Exposed! - 10 Monster Supermarket LIES Finally Revealed! Could also use the word Monstrous. Just few ideas ideas..best to leave it on that note or I might get carried away! Personally just think the "top 10" is a little boring! Anyway whatever you come up split testing is the key! Goodluck. ![]() ![]()

Revealed means you are sharing information you discovered, but it is not necessarily negative. For example, could mean how top level supermarkets have achieved their success.
