Default tagline help - im stuck for ideas!

Guys,

I've a new client who sells vibration health trainers - platforms which vibrate very intensely on which you sit or stand and perform different exercises. NASA uses vibration training for its astronauts as it prevents muscle wastage in space and enables the astronauts to spend more days in space.

For the average person, it intensifies weight loss, has no impact on the body and perfect for people who are recovering from illness or who have problems such as arthritis and cant do normal exercise.

Only problem is that Ive come up with lots of taglines - but havent quite hit the mark yet. The ones in bold are the ones the client liked but requested more refinement.

any help guys would be SO appreciated!

Here's what I did....

Associated words with the word ‘Vibration’
Pulse, tremor, quiver, wave, beat, tremble and shake

Idea is to incorporate movement into tagline...

Health Station – your body on the pulse
Health Station – Feel the beat
Health Station – Feel your body move
Health Station – Shake up your fitness
Health Station – Fitness on the pulse
Health Station – Fitness on the move
Health Station – Move. Shake. Evolve.

cheers

Hi Arfa,

This may be way off what you're looking for -

But somehow tie in the phrase "Good Vibrations"

Health Station - Good Vibrations For All Your Body

or

Health Station - Good...Good...Good... Good... Vibrations For All Your Body

(maybe use a font that vibrates for the "Goods" - and try and not hum the song when your type it!)

Ads That Work - They just have to buy

It probably does... and it's a great "newsy" connection.

But I still prefer Jennifer Lopez's posteria.

Jennifer who?

Since Miss Middleton has tens of thousands of members of her
peachy bottom appreciation club and women asking for "that look"
from plastic surgeons, then I'm looking for ways to tie in this
hot topic with the machine.

Here are snippets from one news story around London...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
bottom-lifting treatments.

And one leading cosmetic clinic has even nicknamed the surgery
The Pip Package Perfect Posterior
------------------------------------------------------------------

"Perfectly Peachy Posterior at the press of a button"

It's a start.

Best,
Ewen

I highly recommend you look at Barry Callen's book, Perfect Phrases for Sales and Marketing Copy. It has an excellent section on tag lines and slogans...a great idea starter.

I used one of the ideas in the book as the inspiration for the tagline on a business website.

Best of luck.

"Shake it and get noticed."
"Good Vibes - Big Results."

Any chance of getting the client to change the name of the product? Health Station is so generic. Sounds like the place where the first-aid kit is kept on a public beach.

Arfasaira,

Normally in the tag line you want to either clarify the nature of the product, differentiate it from the competition or, best, emphasize its benefits.

I suggest concentrating on the latter for the most powerful tag line.

Here's a free resource for wording an idea in a catchy way:

The Top Ten Tag Line Rhythms

Good luck,

Reasons why "Perfectly Peachy Posterior at the press of a button" will work.

And one reason why it won't work.

First the reason why it won't work.

It won't work if the machine doesn't lift and tighten the butt.

I'm thinking it possibly does.

Now the reasons why the given tag line will work

Reason #1 Having three words in a row starting with the same letter
is very memorable, creating that pass along effect, therefore you get
free publicity. You could say it rhymes.

Reason #2 It is visual which the reader can see the Perfectly Peachy Posterior

Reason #3 It ties in the desired outcome with the ease of getting it, therefore very alluring.

Reason #4 You are using existing news that is very much on the minds of lots of people
while it is still underpinned by a evergreen want

Reason #5 You've got something that catches people off guard which
snaps them out of their trance and into another state of mind and into your world.

In fact what I've listed here can be used as a check list of what it takes to create a successful tagline.

It ticks all the boxes of your desired outcome.

Once again, my tag line may not be right for the machine because
of it's performance, but you've seen how one is created and the reasoning behind it.

Best,
Ewen

"The Last Vibrator You'll Ever Need"

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I've never seen it advertised here in the U.S. - maybe I'm just a little behind the times

Reminds me of a machine my mom had when I was young - you put a big belt around your waist, then it would vibrate the be jeebus out of you - hard telling how many lawsuits that spawned.

Yeah, I remember them!! This machine is much more sophisticated than this though and is under a different brand name in the US (not sure). Collectively, these are known as vibration training machines or vibration trainers.

I'm actually tempted to buy one myself - all the research I've done on this points back to the Ancient Greeks who used a very early form of vibration training to help rehabilitate weak limbs!

Anyway, thanks guys for all your help - I've sent off a load to the client with some recommendations....will let you know what he decides!

There are some great suggestions here. Marcia Yudkin's is perhaps the most useful to your situation.

Possibly the best new product intro: Apple's iPod. No one had ever seen one. It had a weird, unexpected name. The illustration was a vivid background, a figure in action, holding a white palm-sized device, connected to ear plugs.

"iPod. 10,000 songs in your pocket."

You saw it - you knew what it was, what it did, and why you wanted one. Instantly. Note that the tag line is very simple. Nothing clever or humorous. Nothing that could be mis-understood. Pure function.

Today, I use the "tag line test" as a product design tool. If I have a product - but can't write a brilliant tag line - why make the product! Because if I can't vividly describe it in a simple, powerful tag line that sells it - why lose money making it?

I even push that further: Think up tag line. Invent product. Every time I do it that way - it works better & faster.

In this case: the product name is flabby. And whatever you do after that has to compensate for a weak name. I vote for re-naming the product. And then write a tag line that clarifies.

Interesting! Robert, if you would be willing to share some examples of this process - both an idea you rejected using this test and another you did develop - then I might write this up in my newsletter. (Publicity for you to 12,000+ subscribers.)

Send me a private message or email...

Thanks,
Marcia Yudkin
