Ok - so as i move to a passive role in my publishing business & move to fee + royalty copywriting - I had an epiphany... Well - maybe i did... Here' what occurred to me for getting max profit out of each copywriting gig... So - here's the strategy (feel free to steal it if you can pull it off)... First - this is critical - only write for clients that will implement my copy & drive massive traffic to it... Second - only write for 2-3 markets that always need copy, always have new buyers & that I really enjoy writing, studying and thinking about... With those policies in place - here's how I get paid for max profit... On the front in I charge retainer plus royalties in perpetuity - making sure I get paid in advance & have a back-end royalty for anyone who buys from any traffic source... I like that ![]() But nothing new so far - right?? But then I thought "I know a lot about media buying & building a responsive list" (which I also enjoy doing)... I just hate product development & dealing with diva-ish gurus... But what if I built a new list for each of the three markets I play in & then monetize the lists by mailing for the sales letters & product launches I write for clients... This let's me make money coming and going while avoiding all the things I hate doing... At the end of the day I have retainers, royalties and affiliate commissions all coming in from copywriting... And I can even be an affiliate for the products coming out of my publishing biz... I don't know, maybe it's too good to be true, but I'm giving it a shot effective immediately... ![]() Let me know what you think?!?!?!? --Michael |

I am not entirely certain I follow all of your strategy - but hopefully it works because it sounds great. I can only dream of getting continuing royalties from my writing. Would you charge less for those clients who take you up on the royalties option? Are you saying you would use the mailing lists which are provided to you by your clients? is this ethical? I am not sure you have explained this very well - or maybe I am a bit dim. probably the latter!! |

Michael, The idea is worth testing and see if it works for you. Another option could be to partner with clients who you work well with to launch a new product. You're combining strengths so that everyone (hopefully) wins. Good luck, Mike |
