Default oldies but goodies

A few days ago I ate some bad seafood, so for the last 48 hours I've spent my time equally between the toilet and laying in bed.

When I've not been miserable, I've been bored to tears -so I figured to try to pass the time somewhat productively and read a bit.

Reason Why Advertising
The Robert Collier Letter Book

I can't believe it's been so long since I've picked up these old classics. They are such well regarded classics for a reason.

It's pretty easy to get all wrapped up in the latest gimmicks and tricks - but in the end you need to understand the principles and strategy of selling. Once you do that, everything else comes together.

So - I probably won't eat claims for a few months again, but I gotta say it's turned out to be a blessing in disguise that I did.

Those are good books -

- here's the funny thing newbies seem to do - sometimes when you give a tip or a pointer about copywriting, they'll say, "Yeah, that's what Carlton said", or "That's what Clayton said, or "That's what Kennedy said", etc.

Often times I sit back and chuckle - when I hear a remark like that.

What they don't realize is that most of these modern day gurus, are only repeating the principles that were put forth in those great books - the principles have always been there - I guess a lot of people need to pay someone for another course to believe it works.
