Wondered if anyone could help me out here.

If you are considering hiring a copywriter these days what are the most important things that you look for?

Agreed with WillDL. One of the most important things to me is past clients I can contact and talk to about the copywriter and get feedback on how the copy worked for them. If a copywriter can't give me any referrals of satisfied clients I nearly always pass.

Definitely agree with the above posts - a proven track record of quality copywriting is extremely important. If they are reluctant to give referrals, it could be because they don't have any and haven't been in the game for long!

Or they take each clients confidentiality very seriously indeed and do not divulge this info to anyone. One or two of the top copywriters here are of this opinion.

It's certainly not because we haven't been in the game for very long or don't have any success behind us. Far from it.
