I know we gripe enough about it here in the forum, but I just had to throw more fuel on the fire...

You Need Help

Dear Copywriter:

How much value do you bring to the table?

Here's one way to compute it. Analyze your potential client's project and determine the sales your copy will generate. Then multiply that amount by 10%.

Once you've computed your value, use your skills as a copywriter to persuade your potential client how much you're worth.

Sincerely,

Alex

Dear Alex,

If you had actually taken the time to read over the sample of copy in the linked piece, you would have found the text to be completely insulting to the audience it's aimed at.

The entire purpose of this exercise was to point out that many copywriters clearly understand the value they bring to the table based on the fact that they would never commit such a faux pas as to write something that will obviously turn the reader away.

We live in a day and age where people are sooooo easily offended.

"Completely insulting"? Get real. My post supported your purpose, not worked against it.

Geesh.

The excerpt shown is from this article and is "on voice" for the site and its audience.

Why take a paragraph out of context to make a point?
