If you're a beginner, start with:

To decide if freelance copywriting is for you:
  • The Well-Fed Writer by Peter Bowerman
  • The Copywriter's Handbook by Bob Bly
To give yourself solid fundamental writing skills:
  • On Writing Well by William Zinsser
  • On Writing by Stephen King
To give yourself solid fundamental copywriting skills:
  • Persuading on Paper by Marcia Yudkin
  • Web Copy That Sells by Maria Veloso
  • Net Words - Creating High Impact Online Copy by Nick Usborne
To give yourself a basic education in fundamental principles of good marketing:
  • Ogilvy On Advertising by David Ogilvy
  • Tested Advertising Principles by John Caples
Everything listed above is easy for a beginner to understand and absorb. When you get through that lot, and you're still keen to be a kick-ass copywriter, start working through Ray's excellent book list.

jking...

I'm hoping your name stands for "joking." Because that book has nothing to do with copywriting (the art of sales persuasion in print).

It's all about copyrighting (the legalities of keeping or selling "rights" to printed work like books... also films and music.

I have recently finished reading Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples and How To Write A Good Advertisement by Victor O. Schwab and would highly recommend them. Neither are the newest books out there, but I believe they are staples in the copywriting business. I find myself referring back to them often.
