Default Ring...Ring...

Done any copywriting for the mobile phone market yet?

I read some stats on it: More people have cell phones than internet, etc.

I haven't done any but it sounds like a real gold mine if done right - darn near everyone txts nowadays.

I've seen a couple big hype 39 dollar courses on it, and how you can make a million by 9 P.M. -

but I was wondering if anyone's tried it and had any success.

I've done an article about how the mobile web affects online marketing for a TextBroker Joint Venture, but no word if it's gotten accepted yet. All I can say is that it should be very easy to research due to the sheer amount of information available on it. The flipside is - expect competition. Plenty of it.

Yes, several companies do run text campaigns, and they hire copywriters to write the texts.

Rather than texting obvious ads (i.e. 20% off your next tire change!), a common method is to use texts to send value, build rapport - similar to list building.

However, I'm holding my reservations about text advertising. I know I personally wouldn't be excited to get text after text of ads sent to my phone.

Thanks for your feedback.

I agree it could be annoying.

Its for a clothing store group that has a market of early teen to 20 somethings.

Everyone would have given their number instead of an email, and the texts would be limited and very short.

Seems this age group is more prone to read a text than an email.

I'm pretty excited about trying this - I think the whole mobile marketing concept is still in it's early stages.

In a couple months I'l give an update on how the campaign went.

Thanks again.

I recently read that 80% of the world population has a mobile phone.

If that's so, then there are over 5 billion mobile phones. That's a large potential market even if most don't speak English.

And I can believe this. As I travel in South and Central America, just about everyone has a mobile phone and they use them.
