Always make it for one country only. Say you placed your ad in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, NZ, you won't find out which country performs best. The worst performers drag down your top performers. The average click thru is 0.02% and therefore is a good benchmark. Two reasons why the difference in response rates between countries. Each country has had different levels of ad exposure to similar offers and therefore respond differently. Next reason is the time of day or night it's running. One marketer discovered his buyers only came in the morning. So he flicked the switch off at midday. Best, Ewen |

Sensible tip here Ewen. To expand I've always found it's best to test and tweak one ad component at a time. For example, if you try a different headline coupled with a different ad image and increase your response rate by 1% how will you know which new component made the difference? It could of course in some cases be the combination of the two but you won't know unless you try each tweak individually. Probably obvious to most on the forum but thought I'd mention it for the beginners. |

Hey Ewenmack. Thanks for the tip. I guess what you are saying is "always split your campaign - one country at a time" and not choose any country. Am I right? |

Two of the biggest names in internet marketing bundled countries together until their new ad manager corrected this mistake. They saved on their ad costs and got higher performance from changes to each country's ad. Best, Ewen | |

Good call on the timing. We definitely need to pay very close attention to localization/timzones. Also consider appealing to different regions cultures and tastes!

great tips very handy i've also noticed on face book that some company have different account for different location (country) that way they can isolate or specialize their promos & ads on that particular region. |

Thanks for sharing. I agree. I used to think I can target so many countries all at one time but experience taught me otherwise. It's better to focus on your target country so that you can start converting rather than being overly ambitious and finding no luck at all.
