Post Article Marketing

Hi everyone...
This is my first post here, I've been watching for quite a while...

I've decided to make this whole internet marketing thing work for me.
My first step has been to set up a blog and track my progress there...

Next step is to pick a atsk each week and go full throotle with it.

This week I've decided to try my luvk with article marketing / bum marketing.
Its way harder than i expected

Now.. I have a question for you guys; these articles i create, how many sites should I upload them to?
All articles to all sites?

I've using free article directory sites.

Hope to hear from you

First, you're gonna need to do some homework. Article marketing is not rocket science but there are things you need to know before it will work for you.

To answer your question: Send half your articles to the top 30-50 ranking article directories for links. Send the other half to ONLY the top 5 AUTHORITY article sites for search engine rankings. Make sure you do good keyword research or your efforts will not pay off.

Good Luck,
Capone

PS: I feel like I'm leaving you hanging a little bit and I don't want to. The point I really want to get across to you is like anything else, article marketing is a skill that needs to be learned. I'm going to send you to one of my favorite blogs. This guy is one of the best bum/article marketers out there and knows his stuff. You won't hear a lot about him but trust me. Google "Internet Marketing with Josh Spaulding."

ah good question. I'd say as many as you can get. If you are blogging you want backlinks, so start with hight traffic, hight PR sites, then work your way down. Remember the 20% rule, make sure each article is 20% different, vary your key words, get to work and don't stop till u flood the net with your content!
Good luck!

Thank you so much for takin the time to reply.
You gave me an exact answer, and that was just what I needed.

And also thanks for the link. I'll be checking it out. Seems like some really good stuff in there.

I had never heard about the 20% rule before.. Nice one

What I want, for now, is a lot of links to my squidoo page...

This I've been doing so far;

I've been writing a lot (well.. actually its not so many yet) of articles around my keywords, and posted them to article directories. But not more than maybe five articles on five different sites..

As I understand it, I have to submit WAY MORE.. right?

I agree I think article marketing is the way to go for me too. I've heard mass submission wasn't all that great so thanks for clearing that up for me. The hardest part for me is making sure I include the keywords, but maybe that will come with practice.

I've had excellent success submitting to around 15-20 article directories at a time. I use article marketing to enhance my website's on-page optimization -- I don't count backlinks, and I don't care if I receive direct traffic from the directories themselves. Using my "method", if you will, I start to see an uptick in natural search engine traffic about 3 weeks after submission.

You can see an example I uploaded here:

You can also see some of the article directories that I use (and test) here:

I used to purchase mass-submission to article directories, but it left a really spammy footprint, and I had better results with selective submissions and switching up my resource boxes.
Reading the other post was really helpfull...
But.. do you write only one article and submit it to about 20 sites or do you create multiple articles?

However -- there are different ways to use article marketing, and different ways to look at the results, depending on what you're looking to get out of it. For me, mass submission almost works against my purpose, but for somebody else, it may be the one thing that works better than anything else.

No, I use a single article -- while I'll certainly use a 3rd party website for my benefit, I don't like putting a lot of stock in somebody else's property, at least if there isn't a a good chance of a significant end-benefit for me. I tried the "unique article" thing with Ezine articles -- for what I use article marketing for, it didn't give me what I was looking for. For this reason, I rarely submit there, even though it's touted as the best of the best in a lot of places.

One other thing -- I do not submit articles to the same article directories each and every time. I continually filter through new directories to test them, but I try to mix it up. I'm not sure if this helps a lot, or even at all (at this point), but it is something that I do. I also have between 5-10 different resource boxes that I will work in during submission. Different anchor text, different landing URLs -- it just mixes it up a bit.
Phew... I think i'm even more confused now
But thank you anyways for taking the time to answer.

What I've got from your (and others) replies is this;

- One article -> about 20 sites.
- Use different sites each times (or at least try to use different sites)
- Use different resource boxes AND different landing pages (for statistics)

Is this somewhat correct?

In my specific case I'm trying to get a lot of traffic to a specific page (a squidoo page), so ideally I should create some duplicate squidoo pages and use a couple of different resource boxes linking to each of them.

I think I'm about to get it... finally

Oops -- about the "submit to different sites" thing -- this happens more due to me filtering through article directories, but I just do not like to submit the exact same article to the exact same directories every time. You would run out of good article directories quickly if you tried to submit to new directories every time you submitted a new article.
No matter what your answers has been very helpful...
And I think I'm starting to get it

Thanks...

I hate to be "one of those" but this thread is in the wrong forum.

This is the COPYWRITING forum, not the Article Marketing forum.

It should be in the main forum, IMO.

I'm not picking on the OP, by the way. Just trying to keep thing on topic here.

As has been noted quite a bit recently, the Copywriting Forum is being overrun by off-topic article and content writing threads. Wrong place for perfectly acceptable threads.

Just sayin'...

Brian

Okay.. What I've done so far is creating a list with all the article directories I know. Then I choose somewhere between 20-25 sites to submit my articles to.

But I get what you are saying. Thanks.
