Lightbulb Surefire Method for Testing Conversion Rates for Different Headlines

Just thought I'd share one of my easy methods for testing a number of different headlines on a sales page to see which one converts the best.

This eliminates "guessing" and paints a perfect picture for you as far as knowing what works on your readers. This will also work with testing different content or whole sales pages for that matter. Pretty much anything, but for this example we'll go with headlines.

1. Come up with your best headlines. Narrow the list down to your best 3.

2. Now create 3 different "discount codes" to go with each headlines. These will be used in conjunction with your headlines to track which one is converting best.

Example: your customer is told to enter coupon code: "Insiders25off" (or whatever) to get 25% off. But this coupon code only shows up with one of your headlines. The other 2 headlines have their own coupon code. Get the idea? The whole idea here is to track each headline.

3. Do a search for a tool called "Rotatee". It is a script that will run on your website that allows you to rotate anything on your website. Its pretty easy to use. Just read the instructions and Im sure you'll figure it out. Basically it shows different content on your page every time the page reloads.

4. Setup the 3 headline campaigns and sit back and test your conversions!

Well thats it. I told you it would be easy. I hope this helps you in some way. This is a good way to perfect your copywriting skills and really narrow in on what works with your audience.

An even easier approach is to use a multi-variate testing tool. There's a free one like Google's or you can use a paid product like KaizenTrack, Split Test Accelerator, or my product Easy Multi Tracking.

Regardless of the testing tool you use, it's just a matter of loading the headlines you want to test into the software, following their test setup instructions, and it will track the results for you. You won't need any coupon codes and you can test any type of webpage including opt-in pages.

Hope that helps,

Mike

suddenly my technique feels inadequate lol Just kidding.

Thank you. There is always a better way to do something and I'm always willing to learn more ways to do something. I'll be checking out the programs you are talking about.
