Is this bad? I think it is, but I was hoping to get more numbers from people in this forum. What would be a reasonable average (doesn't have to be good) number of sales/month for an affiliate website with 10k visitors/month? The reason why I posted this thread here is because I suspect my low amount of sales could be caused by my poor copywriting skills! |

Sounds pretty bad... your only converting 0.05% of your traffic... Do you mind showing us your website and where your getting your traffic from? |

Well, it could also be how targeted your traffic is and if it's cold (among other things). If you're selling pushup bras and most of your traffic is 40-year-old football fans, you won't see a lot of sales (besides a few closest cross dressers). But you can post your copy, so we can see if that's up to snuff. |

If you're concerned your copy is poor and contributing to your low conversion, this forum is a great place to post your existing copy and get some good feedback. Without seeing (reading) what it is you're using to sell your product, it's really hard for anyone to offer up a helpful suggestion. |

it depends, you're not giving enough information for anyone to help you... where are you getting the traffic from? how are you getting them to the site? what page is the traffic going to? |

0.05% is not usually thrillingly good - unless the product is high priced with a good profit margin. Your best bet as others said is post your copy. You may not have enough posts to use the link - just type in the url and someone will decode it for you. Just so you know, some copy critiques can be blunt and a bit harsh. Others will be friendly - but they'll all be extremely useful, and will help you improve the conversations. Steve |

i mean it really depends. You got 10k visitors and lets say this is really bad quality traffic.... and you only made 5 sales.... ya, the conversion sucks.... but if you spent say... $100 to get the traffic, and made $50 per sale, you'd be at $250 gross - $100 in ad spend, you'd make $150 in profits for every $100 you put in. I'd do that all day long. |

Looks like everyone has said what I wanted to say. Maybe you could add on how you get your traffic ? This would let us know how targetted your traffic really is.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback, my website's ps3repairnow.com. I don't know if this is copywriting in the sense that it calls strongly for people to buy this product. This website provides basic information and if you want anything further, you should buy this product. Anyway, I get traffic purely from Google searches. I've never done any advertisements etc. Any suggestions on ways to improve my website/sales? I've thought of placing banners in the middle of the articles or at the end instead of links in the text but I don't want to scare the potential buyers away with ads as well. Thanks guys! Oh, also, I only get abt $20/sale as this isn't my own product. I'm a budding affiliate marketer |

Your headline is weak AND grammatically incorrect. You probably have a ton of people hitting the back button without ever reading a sentence of your body copy. Brainstorm a bunch of different headlines and test them. Once you have a winner, get to work on the body copy. |

You should also update the design of the landings page.. it starts off with too much text.. start light with some 'attention-asking-headlines'. And above all do split testing! |

Dude, as an ex Playstation crazy myself, your site makes me want to tear out my eyes - seriously. You know what I want? I want my damn PS3 fixed - I don't want a university lecture or some guy showing off his intellect. Which is what your site flashes. Too much text, too many links. "K.I.S.S" - Keep is SIMPLE, stupid! Don't give your prospects a chance to stop, get distracted and run off/bugger off to 1000 different links. Minimal text, minimal links - one link to a contact/sales page is more than enough. Stop trying to do everything - otherwise you get nothing (as you're doing now)! |

The text is there for SEO purposes mostly, but I suppose I can switch some of them out without hurting my rankings.. I'll also change my headings to be more engaging. I think I know where to head towards now. I need to be more aggressive in marketing the e-book instead of providing bland information, eh? Thanks, peeps! |

Considered using Adsense instead or in addition?

Thanks NickN! Just what I was looking for.. I'm not sure if adding Adsense would be a good idea, an Internet marketer I used to follow stressed on using one or the other i.e marketing a particular product or placing ads on your website. Placing both would greatly undermine the credibility of a website. I don't have any experience with Adsense but I might give it a try if this still doesnt work out! |

Yeah, I personally think affiliate and adsense can be used effectively on the same page. Just don't put too many, as Google penalizes site's in their SERP's for this.

It's not bad... You definitely need something to snazz it up - Colorful buttons, Red text, vary the size, here and there - It is putting me to sleep Make the product pic Bigger.Like someone said.. a little too text-bookie. Hello, I will try to ask something here, without starting a new thread? Please, correct me if it is not ok. I am confused about pretty links. When I check them there are hundreds of hits. But when I go to Amazon.com and check my associate tracking report there are only a few clicks. Why I see hundreds of hits at my dashboard? Am I allowed to put url adress of my sites to here to get a comment? there is another confusing situation. For my keywords KitchenAid Artisan 5-Quart Stand Mixers (1900 exact searches monthly) I have been at first position for several days (klikkutak). (I do not know exactly how because I tried many ways), but there no clicks throw my link according report at Amazon.com site. I will appreciate if somebody explain me if I do things right way. I have been learning from several sources and I work hard but I am still newbie. Thanks. |

From my experience, you should expect to convert about 1% of your visitors into sales. If you are not, then you are doing something wrong. It could be your sales copy, but it could also be the type of traffic you are getting. You could be getting people looking for free information only and are not ready to buy. You could improve this by preselling them or warming them up for a potential sale. Do some research and find out exactly what your promoted product can give your audience that they NEED or that can HELP so much that they can't go another day without it.... If you are not making more sales than you are, you can still make out good in the end if you set up a squeeze page to funnel this traffic into to at the least get their e-mail addresses in your list. If they don't buy now, you could coax them to buy later. |
