Default How I Practically FORCE My Visitors To Read My Website

Headlines are hands-down the most important piece of your website.

You can have a fantastic design, but without words that capture attention... you've got nothing but a design.

Words sell, not graphics.

If you can grab the attention of your reader, they will stay on your page longer and you will have a chance to sell them your service or product.

Here are a few samples of headline types that have been proven to work.

How I ____________
  • How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling
  • How I lost those last 30 pounds in just 30 days

They didn't think I could _________, but when I did ___________
  • They laughed when I sat down to play the piano - but not when I started to play!
  • They smirked when I said I could make thousands each month - but when I bought that new boat they were amazed at my results!

Discover the Secrets of ________
  • Discover the weight-loss secrets your doctor doesn't want you to know!
  • Discover the secrets that champion golfers keep to themselves!

________ Ways To _________
  • 101 Ways to Save More Money on Groceries
  • 7 Ways You Can Cut Your Ad Budget Up To 50%

These have been used for years and are still selling products like crazy today. Keep an eye open in your local newspaper, online, and in your mail to see these in action in even the most expensive ad campaigns around.

Not if there isn't text in it. Then it's just an unexplained graphic.

Alone they don't sell. If they are mixed in with powerful text, they can be a fantastic asset that causes a huge jump in sales.

But alone... without any text (whether in the graphic or not) to support what the image is trying to convey, it's just an image, not a sales tool.

Zorro,

You made a great work. Anyway the picture and the text is not precluding instead reinforcing each other if you apply them wisely.

Cheers,

Man, I hate when peoples sphincters are so 'loose' they end up 'losing' it.

Why do people struggle with the most basic of words and who's buying stuff from people who can't spell?

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill, I could see the city light, Wind was blowing, time stood still, Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe, Came in close, I heard a voice, Standing, stretching every nerve, I had to listen, Had no choice...

Why do people struggle with the most basic of words and who's buying stuff from people who can't spell? Hey there, BigBenForCanton nice headline! I think? No big fella, nobody buys from me off the net, and I need people like you to help me out. It takes many pairs of eyes to get things right. Thanks for pointing out that extra “o”. Your quite correct in that regard, spelling isn’t my strong point. So writing sales copy is especially difficult for me.
But a whole lot of folks do buy from me every day, and that my friend, is easily done without spelling. What I do find intriguing is the idea of promoting and selling on the internet. I am slowing down some and the pace of this venture is appealing to me.
Just trying to learn and Scheda here appears have this copy stuff nailed. Thank you for your guidance Scheda! More than likely I’ll be needing your services once I figure out a product that I think will sell.
My thing is gold and adventure, pure and simple. I was going to just sell an ebook about how to make a fortune in the gold market. But then I found out how fast that sort of thing can effect the market. I tried it out on two friends and they went nuts flipping gold. Next thing I know some really large players are phoning all pissed off. So I canned that idea.
Now I am thinking about adventure and how that might be the thing to write an ebook about. I am moving around a lot. Going in and out of some of the most adventurous places. (In my mind anyway.) Like dropping into the Congo onto runways that are just so dam rough, or Afghanistan and checking out how the army is doing. They like visitors from time to time, and it is always an adventure. Gets the blood flowing and I always think. I bet there are many folks who want to slide into some remote spot here on the planet and check out the average folks there on the ground.
It’s not all that easy to get to go to most of these places. But I have learned how to do it. That information, contacts, and locations of the most forbidden places on earth might make something that is sellable. Not too sure about it though. I tried looking on goggle, trends, dig, headlines, and all, but not able to decipher whether or not the venture is viable.
So, I am thinking about doing some testing and this is when I start trying to conger up some sort of sales page that might work. I have found this forum to be most helpful in this regard. While I am sitting here in the world’s only seven star hotel getting ready to pop into deepest darkest Africa again. I thought I would spend a few days on this project. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks again Scheda for your help.

I think what Scheda's getting at is if you have nothing but graphics on a sales page, you wouldn't be able to sell a thing. But...you can have a sales page with nothing but words and sell millions.

There are actually studies showing that some salespages actually convert more without the header graphic. Yep--just a naked sales page starting with the headline.

Scheda, this is a very helpful post and I wanted to say a big thank you, but unfortunately I haven't got a 'Thank you' button yet, since I haven't got enough posts, so I thought I'd spell it out in this message: THANK YOU

Watch what you believe and look closely at HOW studies are carried out. If you structure an experiment the wrong way you won't have accurate results. Just a picture and a lead form, just a video and a lead form, or just text and a lead form will convert. Which converts better? That depends on your market.

As for long sales letters (when you expect to have someone pull out a credit card), you need a good MIX. Just _______ doesn't convert well at all. But a mixture of text, images, and even video will make a buyer out of most (assuming your traffic is targeted well).
