Thank you, Frank Rumbaskas! Never Cold Call Again appears to be a book about sales from some sales training guy. That's why I finally got around to pick it up. But copywriters need it too!
The book includes discussion of e-mail, direct mail, the Web, newsletters, blogs - all areas where copywriters have opportunity to make money for clients and for themselves.
Copywriters might be tempted to stop reading when the discussion turns to appointments and sales presentations. They shouldn't turn away then! The section on profit justification is one of the best summaries of value based pricing ever put into a few pages. The section on creating proposals is terrific advice for building any offer. The section on how to stick to what's relevant and demonstrate meeting needs would be superb advice for any sales letter.
Just as Bob Bly has made different versions of his content, I would love to see a copywriting-focused book from the same author. Two-thirds of the content could be the same, simply framing the sales and marketing principles from a writing point of view rather than a personal prospecting point of view.
Copywriters should definitely add this one to their bag of tricks. I would have read it earlier but I thought it was just about sales calls!
Regards,
Allen
P.S. Please leave this post in the copywriting forum. There are already reviews of this book for in-person sellers. I want to bring it to the attention of advertising writers.
