Hello my dear friends, For the past few days I've been thinking how to improve my copywriting and it wasn't until recently that I taught about this. I was thinking if it would be a good idea to start a thread, and to post a sales letter every day on a random topic and a made up product, and get you guys to tell me if it's any good and if you think it could sell. I'm just looking for come constructive critique and some practice, simply because i don't see a point in learning copywriting if i don't have any feedback that i'm going it right. So is there any copywriter or member interested into participating in something like this? Personally i think it would be a good way for any newbie out there on the forum that wants to learn this art to actually see what works and what doesn't work. All it would take you, professional copywriters, is about 2-3 minutes of your time to write a critique and point out some errors and or give some advice. But the rest of us who wish to participate we would have to write a sales-letter per day or every other day (how ever you manage to fit this into your daily schedule). So anyone up for this kind of thread? |

I understand what you're trying to do, but I don't think it's the best way to go about it. Rather than wasting time writing random salesletters each day, why not pick an affiliate product to re-write, or grab a PLR product and write a salesletter for it? Then you can learn what REALLY sells, and make some money in the process. You'll learn a TON more about copywriting doing that than you would the 5 minute critiques that generally get thrown around here. |

this is about learning now and harnesing money from it later... it's better to be told i'm and idiot here then to post a newsletter on a site and not get any money, qhich is a waste of time and effort... my goal is to learn now, get somewhat good, and then when i reach that stage i'll go and make a living for my self and my business. just to note, i do not wish to compete with you guys, you are professionals and i don't want to mess with your bread and butter but what i do intend is help my business by helping my self starting to recognize paterns and improving my writing skills |

If you're going to learn copywriting on your own, I suggest you get a couple of books (from the thread below) and read them first: Top Copywriting Books... Ever Then I highly recommend taking the route Kyle suggested because the good thing about rewriting Clickbank letters or PLR product letters is that you also learn from traffic generation that way... and that can help you greatly in the future. When I first started writing copy, for one full year I studied everything I could on copywriting but avoided the traffic generation part because I thought it was too cumbersome. Big mistake! You'll discover soon that you're going to have to learn about traffic generation whether you like it, so why not take this route and do that right away? Secondly, the problem with asking for feedback on a forum is that some of the advice is accurate and some of it is not. Plus you can't say, "I want feedback from pro copywriters only!" Everybody's gonna give feedback and if you take the wrong advice to heart, then that could have serious repercussions going forward. So IMHO, if you're really looking for guidance from a pro copywriter I suggest you hire one of them as your coach. This way it becomes easier for you also because you'll be exposed to one method of teaching only. Hope this helps, Dean. |

traffic generation is not a problem for me... i know how to do that... My site is still in the making process and the product I'm making is still not finished... currently I'm studying some authors that i can get my hands on but i would wish ti get some feedback on the forums because i have a problem being detached from the words i wrote and thus i feel numb toward them. Thus i can't say if they can make me to buy my own product |

In that case, the best thing would be to get a copywriting coach. Raydal's coaching program is good. It's not very expensive and he will give you all the critiques you want. Check it out here: Ray L. Edwards Copywriting Coaching and Mentoring Program Take care, Dean. [ |

You should start a little mastermind blog with a few more beginners, post your sales letters then have the other folks comment on them. Every now and then you can all pitch in for a pro to critique/coach or whatever too. I think what Kyle says makes sense though, leverage your time better by writing sales letters for products that actually exist. That way you might make a little money on the side as well as learning copy... And if you don't, you're still learning copy. You should get a decent content rich blog you can leverage too. Colm |

I seem to be missing something. Why doesn't this forum section do the exact same thing you're suggesting -- just that it's not in a one thread format. Next, what you seem to overlook is the importance of putting your letter online -- and selling with it. Trust me. No copywriter wants a letter shoved in a drawer for maybe, someday, I'll get 'round to doing something with it and maybe learn (something) from it. Go. Sell. That's learning something. Otherwise you're fooling yourself. Sounds like a delaying tactic under the pretense of learning. This is an action business. Take real action. Not pretend action. |

If you have a site right now, it's a moot point.

Write an offer, publish it, send traffic to it, then count. Do more of what's working for you and less of what's not. Quote:
Understand something, no one gives a **** about you in the big picture. Nobody gives a **** about me in the big picture. People are universally focused on themselves, their own problems, their own dreams.... and you will never be more than a walk-on for that movie. If you really want to learn how to do this, you've got to do it. Everything else is just excuse making and intellectual masturbation. You seem like a good person that really wants to succeed. I'm sure every person reading this wants that for you too. So put the idea of some skeptical, grumpy jerk out of your mind. Instead, think of me sitting here on the other side of the world pulling for you, wanting you to do well. Smile, write, publish, count. That's all this gig is. Best, Brian

![]() Well the product that I want to write the copy about is still not done yet, i need some materials to complete it and until i can get my hands on such a thing i'm stuck, so i try to justify my "time wasting" by learning to write copy, i might just make the best of my time, considering that i'm running a one-man-army type of project...

You don't need a finished product to write copy -- you can write the first first ![]() There is an active thread at the moment talking about this... LOTS of people write the copy while the product is still just a twinkle in their eye.

| The first step in a new journey is to risk all and apologize later. Your mistake was to ask others to agree with your idea. To become a strong salesman, start by "doing" and then fix the problems later. You should've just wrote up something and asked for a critique instead of trying to win people over with your suggestion. You have to be more aggressive in your sales tactics. If you want something, DO IT and others will follow. The same works with copywriting. Do you ask your customers if your product is a good idea? Of course not... You tell them how GREAT it is and that they should buy it. |
