Another Joe Karbo gem, the "perfect product" which requires NO copy writing...
Joe was an ad guy. He liked copy, he was good at writing it.
But during this conversation, regarding The Perfect Product, Joe said something like this:
"Alex, do eat cereal?"
Me, "Wheaties and cheerios."
Joe: "When you run out of milk, do you have to be persuaded to buy it?"
And we were off and running, on a discussion about NOT having to sell something, about NOT writing or advertising a product.
Joe Karbo told me the PERFECT PRODUCT was a
CONSUMABLE. People buy it, use it up, buy some more. Like cereal eaters buying milk.
Harvey Brody had shared with Joe this "perfect product" concept, and Harvey had the Zoom-Spout Oiler (which has sold over 100 million units) as a ready example.
Joe, then, told me of something even better. The Hotsheet.
Which I've written about here, and he showed me the weekly "Yacht Hotsheet" put out by S. CA boat dealers, and for which he gladly paid 20 bux a week to get.
Consumable INFORMATION was Joe Karbo's choice for a perfect product, when done right, requires little to no advertising, other than to let the target know it was available. Which may require some copy, albeit, not persuasion or selling copy.
Consider it (consumable info) has made Agora a huge company, when coupled with compelling copy to a targeted market.
If you create (or acquire) your own products, consider the Newsletter as an easy to do product which contains timely information.
AND, if you can write copy, OR want to, then consider taking the idea of "the Perfect Product" to one of your targeted clients, or one you want as a client.
Consumables. Got milk?
Info consumables are a cash cow you don't want to ignore if you want to make some MOOlah.

PS. It could be a back door entrance into a big marketing company where you can test your copy chops, but, have a few mock up issues of your "News Letter" to present to them.
