Copywriting for your own products -- Chris Haddad

If you are considering developing your own products but are not sure what is possible, take a look at this video from Chris Haddad. It's been posted here before, but new Warriors may not have seen it.

He started as a copywriter and slowly added his own products on the side. Eventually he stopped writing for clients to focus on his growing product business. As he mentions early in this vid, he pulled in $3 million in one year after paying affiliates. (That was a couple of years ago. Now?)

Here are some links to his products (with pen name Michael Fiore) to get an idea of his style in the relationship market. Some are NSFW and have videos that may start playing right away..

Notice how well he uses emotional stories. Here is more background:

Kevin Rogers and Haddad appeared onstage together here explaining the power of story for a launch:

There is also a good interview with Haddad at FastEffectiveCopy.com (paid membership site, no affil) by Brian McLeod and David Garfinkel.
Fast, Effective Sales Copy with David Garfinkel & Brian McLeod

Here is a thread with more background on that interview:
http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...e-tonight.html

I wrote this after listening to it: "So many golden nuggets I had to get a pack mule to carry them all. This was one of the best interviews. I write copy mostly for my own little kingdom, so it was great to see how he put his empire together, the big money possible, the challenges, the failures, the con men you have to watch out for, personal growth, overcoming limiting beliefs, treating people right, etc."

Takeaways:

-- Give it a try. You are a writer and creator. Create a good product, write the copy, and put it up. Didn't work? Try it again. I know a guy who wrote 9 full novels with no bites from publishers before he broke through with a NY Times best seller. Keep trying stuff. Have fun. Enjoy the creation process. You are the boss.

-- Don't be afraid to change it up. Read how Haddad changed a VSL at the last minute and it "destroyed":

-- Break down Haddad's copy and learn from it. Consider this quote from Harlan: "I'm curious as to how many of you guys/gals who see a proven 7 figure copywriter downloaded and transcribed the video to study."

-- No time to create a product? Try writing the copy first, then create the product. That's the advice this Warrior got when she couldn't make the copy work for her product:

-- Invest in your talent and business. Haddad spent top dollar to learn from the best teachers.

He's using a new innovation in VSL's with
    puppets.

Have you seen others with puppets?

Not a particularly new concept for explainer or brand vids. But definitely way out of the ordinary for a VSL.

If I remember correctly from our FEC interview, I don't think the puppets worked out quite as well as Chris was hoping/expecting, but that's why we try and test and try and test and... try again.

Expect some exciting new things from Haddad in 2015.

All I can say is a healthy Chris is a dangerously effective Chris.

      And he's feeling good now.

        Thanks Brian.

The beauty of being your own client the shackles are off

Thanks for posting the video. It's a real inspiration to me as I am a copywriter.

Content is king and I've lived by this throughout my 15 years as a marketer/copywriter. Over the past few years, I've certainly noticed that many copywriters have finally learned that they can say more with less, which we've also seen translated into the way landing pages are being constructed.

As there's so much choice out there, we don't have the time to trudge through lines of content, but would rather be presented with small nuggets of cool content that can convey an idea, service or product quickly, and leave a lasting stamp.

Well, that's my two cents worth!

    Cheers,
    Jaymes

I totally agree to that. If you have time for your copy, it will totally pay off..
and you dont even have to be a native speaker for it.

Because sometimes I have noticed, making a typo or spelling error increases conversion, somehow. Strange but true.

I could definitely use copyrighting help for my PC Gaming software sales page. Any takers?
