I have had an offer from someone on Elance to write articles for me and do all submissions to article directories and blogs, social networks etc. for $50 per article. This seems very high to me. What do you think?

Hard to say without knowing the exact details of the project. It all depends on the quality of the work.

What exactly are you looking for?

It would just be regular articles written with keywords in them, nothing special. But bare in mind that they would do ALL the submissions too.

How many article directories are they going to submit
        to?

Are they talking about social bookmarking the articles
that are at the directories and if so are they going
to social bookmark every single director.

Additionally I would want to know how many and which
sites they are going to bookmark at.

Could be a great deal but as mentioned before it also
        depends on the quality

WOW...at first glance I would jump at that. But I have taken the lowest cost bid on Elance on a few occasions and will never be so quick on the draw again. I got what I paid for.

The nice thing about Elance is you can see reviews from other people. What are they saying? Have they done other projects and what have they earned?

Usually these are good indicators and to the type of work you could expect.

Unfortunately they are new members on Elance, so no feedback as of yet. Don't know where and how much they will submit to.

Try to get more than one quote/offer. You should also look at their experience and maybe ask for a sample of their previous work.

I would be careful, maybe watch for a while, see if anyone else has a say.

        Nixter,

wiriting is one thing, submitting another. This ranges from spam-software submission to manual submission to top article directories. If it is the last, then $50 can be justified.

Get a few quote from elancer and then compare the services they offer you. Take note, most elancer never read what you've requested, probably reading it a one time go without understand your needs 100%. Most of them just bid and hoping they will win the project. If this happen then you will face a lot of problem with them.

So, i agree with you all...

          1. Get more quote/offer
          2. Ask them few questions so that you can verify they understand your requirements
          3. Read their reviews
          4. Ask them for samples

I would suggest, get a pro - elancer that have experiences and reviews. They might be able to give you good quality article.

          Cheers!

    - How many words per article?
    - What's the keyword density?
    - Are there anchor texts?
    - What's the quality of writing?
    - Any guarantee for rewrites/tweaks?

These are just some factors that you also need to consider.
