Makepeace-Bly swipe for your collection...

Found this while cleaning up old jumpdrives, and thought I'd share. It's the bookalog version of collaboration between Clayton Makepeace and Bob Bly. Those of you who used to read The Total Package may recognize it from my article challenging you to pick the winning cover from a 3-way test. (This was the winner.)

My advice: Study this piece and learn from it.

Anyway, click here to grab the swipe.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. I'm preparing to help a friend launch a series of health products, and this is a great blueprint to swipe. Great find.

BTW, Rexburg, huh? I went to school there. Haven't made a visit for 2 or so years. Don't miss the snow, but it was sure nice being able to drive out into the dry farms and be completely alone in only 5 or so minutes on the road. (I'm in California now, and solitude is basically a nonexistent pleasure. But there are other benefits that keep me here and happy.)

Virtually no snow here at the moment. Although that could change at any moment...

.. Which begs the question, "Who is going to read a 40 page sales letter?
    And for some vitamins?

Believe me, if the piece didn't make money on the test mailing, it wouldn't have rolled out. Long copy -- even 40 pages selling vitamins -- works. Often better than shorter copy. You just have to put it in front of the right prospect.

This past year, I've written long copy almost exclusively. Including slim jims, magalogs, tabloids, and DM packages. And it's not just my clients. Last week I got a 52-page bookalog from Boardroom.
