How to turn $125 into $900,0000

Are you a good writer? Write a 200-word essay and spend $125 and you may become the proud owner of a bed and breakfast in Maine worth $900,000.

I like the Mitch Hedberg reference at the end.

    Here's another one...

"My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen bananna. I said no.
But I want a regular bananna later...
    So, yeah..."

I did not follow the link, but this is an old, old tactic. I wrote about it in one of my books.

The first time someone tried it, it worked like a charm. After that, copycats could not get enough entries to even justify the contest.

The B&B owner obviously can't sell the place at all, and this is a desperation move trying to get enough entry fees to unload the B&B for at least a fraction of that $900,000 it is supposedly worth. It's only worth that if someone would pay it, and there must be some reason no one wants it!

Maybe the reason is mosquitoes. I've been told they're terrible in certain parts of Maine during the Summer.

Perhaps you should read the article.

She owns the property because back in 1993 she won the exact same competition.

She just thought she would sell it in the same manner that she 'bought' it.

I live in Maine... and can tell you this place is in the middle of no where.

So, would be tough to fill it up enough to make a decent profit from using
as an actual bed and breakfast... because of its location.

I used to live in the middle of no where in Maine... and even THAT place
is too much in the middle of no where for me... so that could be a factor.

If it were me, I'd try to funnel in some of the skiers who may be passing through
to the mountains in Maine or New Hampshire... but yeah, if it was my guess... its
the location and lack of population (not counting deer) that would be a major issue.
