      Meh - I perform with a live band. "Saw" tends to mean both heard and saw in that instance.

        Maybe if you are judging their singing ability then you might just concentrate on the musical aspects rather than the visual.

        I have no issue in enjoying entertainment whatever senses it plays to.

        It is just coming from a family that are all formally trained classical musicians and educated that way it sometimes intrigues me why some judges who are not really qualified to assess the abilities of anyone tend to also have scant knowledge of language and don't really have any formal education or life experience that qualifies them for any success, much like many who troll the forums.

        It is often the whole performance by any artist that delivers the experience felt by the audience.

        From a copywriting perspective it is often the "whole performance" and the craft of orchestrating the outcome that is desired by the composer that really decides who the winners or losers are.
