if you could add one feature to writing software, just for copywriting...

Ok. We all know there are many books on copywriting.
And many tips to boost conversions.
And it is easy to forget them all, when doing your writing.
Not to mention things like graphics you can use, or preformatted johnson boxes...or boxes for testimonials...

So, if you feel like it, tell me one feature you would add to writing software to make it possibly your favorite copywriting tool or at least something better...

For example, a mistake I have when I get excited about something I like is using the word I too much. Copy has to be about YOU, the customer and WIIFM

So I can add an I/YOU/ME/WE/US checker to give stats because you (or at least other copywriters who don't know it all yet) could benefit from having a quick way to check copy, against principles from a combined number of copywriting professionals.

I also read a good post here just now about using the word 'Because'.

It's little things, reminders that can be useful, built into software, and I can do it for YOU, because you deserve (or at least know you want) more money in less time for your hard work.

If any copywriter here wants to have a say in functionality of Brainstorm Pro copywriters edition and get a free license key if I implement their suggestion (which will include all the other copywriter's features added) then please let me know.

You can post feature suggestions here...anything, such as:

There is a sales principle x: create a software button that incorporates this into the software so I can make sure I always use this in my sales copy.

Or something specific like gimme a button that scans the text and looks for any word over 5 letters that I repeated more than 10 times.

Or: gimme a button I can click and get a pop up text box where I can write an objection I encountered, and store it away so I can develop a counter argument etc...

So please post feature suggestions here or send it to me via PM or send them to me at my site if you think it is better for competitive intelligence sakes.

Thanks

Jesse, most good copywriters don't write from a first person point of view. We write from our target market/audience's perspective. We don't need software to point this out because we're already in the mind's eye of the consumer/user. We've carefully considered the benefits of our clients' product and how we can best market that to their end user. There is no "I" in good copywriting.

so how do you keep track of the benefits you research? and how many are there typically...30? 50? 100?How do you keep them? in 100 little notepad files? or add to them bit by bit to assemble the copy?
I'd like to know more about the process and the technology you use, if any, other than a pad and paper.
Because you have to consider the search capabilities of software, there can be advantage. If you have an api plugged in, you are getting real easy access to search stats on what people are searching for, what pain they feel or what problem needs solving...and in addition, possible keywords to add in (though I know not all sales letters need any real 'SEO') Maybe I'm off course here, but as far as I know, these are all factors, factors that I can solve for you, and decrease your research time by days, possibly weeks.

I just wanted to jump in and LOL for a quick minute.

But as a writer yourself, you're supposed to already know the process. And those questions you asked? As a writer yourself, you're supposed to already have the answers.

And as someone who has amassed 127 user comments, plus, as a programmer, you're supposed to have an-ongoing feedback system in place.

I wish you luck though. You're very persistent.

To the wrong crowd, yes... but persistent.

Thanks. We know sales. We know persistence pays. Overcoming objections is not for the timid, and taking a 'No' on the first go will not help you meet your objectives.
    I mean...aside from writing copy...
You ever done cold calling in direct sales shop?
Or had an army recruiter follow up with you for enlistment?
In my view, this is all 50% sales copy, writing and scripts...
a war for quality persuasion...And in a war, you have to be the best, there is no second place (or, the results of sales copy that is not first rate is not satisfying at least, and deadly at worst...for your business or cause).

I am one of you. I am a salesperson and copywriter. Not a full time copywriter, but I've done enough to know that it is not easy and that any advantage you can get is well worth it...and that only a fool wouldn't shell out a few hundred bucks for a tool that could give them a real advantage, if they had the budget...

I don't think all copywriters do it the same...I already do know some of the process, enough of it to make a good product...But there are probably hundreds of great copywriters, all who have their own different methods. What I want is a combo of the best, the most famous...as well as the new breed, the technology oriented, who know how to leverage any available automation.

I know the process I use, and would use, but there are many, many facets of copywrititing or possible methods of sales copy assembly, as well as many, many principles of sales, possibly hundreds that could be a factor. There is already software out there that does some of this, and it is very, very good...And I know there is a market.

I don't need to compete for this, all out, because copywriting is only one segment of my market...but if I put something out there, I want it to be good...really good...with, as you say, a built in feedback system...so that over time it could evolve, to be the best, dollar for dollar.

That is why I wanted to ask you personally, and the copywriter's crowd... so I can have something that at least is better than average to start out with, if I ever launch a copywriter's edition...As well as get feedback on price points...how much is possible.

When you're going for quality, that really delivers, I want to hear from dozens of people with different viewpoints and techniques. I probably should leave it at that and just put a feedback system in place to improve it. I do have a feedback system in place and now you've given me a good idea.

This right here is the crux of your positioning. Only a fool wouldn't buy this if it gave them an advantage.

I've seen every writer here who engaged with you ask this very same question. What does it do? How does it do better than what I've already got?

And your answer has been that it's fast and looks up 10 words at once. You don't have a market - you're trying to manufacture one.

That strategy has gone on to do good things before. But frankly you really need to start with the NEED before you develop a product.

What NEED was this product designed to provide for? What pain does it relieve?

Until you start talking less about you and your sales dreams and more about serving your market, you're going to have a really hard time finding the answers you need to make this a thing.

Honestly if I were to use writing software - it would need to be extremely user friendly.

If I could get something that would integrate with Google Docs, and was customizable, I might pay for that.

    Thank you for your feedback.

I can probably make it interface with google docs, no problem.

The way the basic software is designed is to be flexible, so that plugins can be developed, either by me and my team for you, or by another coder that you hire. We're working to make it a plugin system, so whenever you think of something you might like, it is there...A built in suggest feature for rapid development to meet your current needs if they are not met and any new ones you might think that can give you a new edge in productivity as they arise.

If for, say 100 bucks you can have a plugin developed that could massively increase your productivity than would you pay that? (in addition to the $97 for the basic version)? It might be part of the offer, not sure yet how to structure the individual plugins as they relate to the overall product offers.

I'm considering doing a launch with minimum features and the people who get it as is and work through it would get all future updates for a year free or something if I can manage it. That could potentially mean a dozen or so tools, like google docs integration.

Part of the offer with the basic version is custom coding available. So Google docs...if it is possible and you want it, we can do it, at a cost and convenience that leave won't you sifting through freelance sites and dozens of generic canned bids to give you the very writing tool you want to increase your productivity.

For example, let's say aside from copy you do blogging and you want it to plug right into word press...adding the login button and api is something I can almost definitely figure out for you, easily.

So let's also say for example...If you write for your company blog and could benefit from a tool that has good templates built in to work from (for example, a list of a bunch of successful blog posts from the last year, or winning text link ads from the recent market to look at and model, customize).

I know how to find the blog posts and ad promotions that were massively popular, that created fads or got massive clicks, the actual titles and text ads of things that were shared or voted up.

Looking at a number of these rapidly within your writing tool will likely give you or the person you hire ideas to create a winner. So it is a brainstorming tool for you, as much as a plain typing tool.

Also, I should mention...Part of what I want to offer is multi-user licenses. I don't know if this fits a market need, but if you have a team or you outsource work and want your freelancers to be working with a tool that could increase the quality of the work they produce, then I think I can offer that too and with something like Google docs, a way to make it convenient for your whole team to collaborate. A simple 'sync' button could bring the updated copy to your desktop and into Brainstorm Pro for you to develop further.

Potential creative collaboration is there, like Google docs, and that is a good idea, one I could probably integrate for you.

The need that I aim to meet, the pain I want to alleviate in the copywriters market is the challenge of finding the most successful ad to model that fits with your particular task at hand (the product or service you are writing about). Then I want to give you the easiest way possible to customize it based on the best suggestions that you find via brainstorming.

In addition, when you are facing the challenge of researching the market, there could be plugins for that too, like getting search numbers, long tail data, which you can check off and snatch individually, right into your document and use to assemble the copy.

And re: user friendly: Brainstorm Pro is not some new high tech system designed to lead you through a maze of buttons, scripts and jargon, to suck the life right out of you via internet cables, satellites and wires…I want to alleviate all of the pain of that or at least as much as possible, and help the copywriter who doesn't dig all the techno jargon and simply wants to use the time tested principles of copy in the most effective way with technology to get the most money from the advantage that the internet provides (in addition to helping with print copy).

User friendliness is the underlying theme of Brainstorm Pro. A powerful desktop program that doesn't eat up RAM and is really, really easy to use.
