Guides and/or advice on execution?

'Allo!

What are the best / your favorite guides or other resources on advertising execution?

I'm looking for information on the nuts and bolts of setting up direct mail campaigns, PPC campaigns, radio, etc.

Who to contact, what to have ready, logistics.

I study copywriting pretty relentlessly, but I'm feeling a knowledge gap when it comes to the technical stuff. I'm totally comfortable taking briefs from clients and writing copy at work, but I want to learn more about setting up and executing campaigns from scratch.

I realize that's what Google's for, but I just wanted to know if anything particularly amazing or helpful stood out in your minds.

Sorry if I'm being unclear or vague.

Cheers,

- Chad

Honestly - anything good I've learned in this arena has been on the job.

These types of processes are so specific, not just by industry, but by individual companies, or sometimes even small departments within companies.

If I were you I'd try to spend a few days working with an experienced marketing person. If your current job has people like that, I think that's the best path, by far.

You could also see about getting a free trial of popular marketing platforms like Salesforce etc....

Another advantage of working w/ an existing team is access to costly software like Salesforce, Hubspot etc...

I know Perry Marshall had some great books, one on Adwords execution and one on Facebook Ads execution.

I've seen and read both, and found them VERY in depth.

The problem is, things change so fast online, when it comes to advertising platforms and what they allow... often times the best thing to do is find a Facebook group or forum based on that specific thing you're looking to get help from.

The books can become outdated fairy fast. Not to mention... there are things you learn from actually going through the process of signing up with the platform, running and testing out some ads, and getting hands on experience.

But yeah Check Perry Marshall, he had some great stuff for Adwords and Facebook.

I think it comes down to listbuilding and landing page. I'd probably just get an aweber account and learn to set up your lead capture systems, then learn to use wordpress and the available plugins for creating landing pages with something like ThriveThemes and tracking clicks with something like Prettylinks.

There is a lot more, such as payment processing, but as far as the writer goes, these are a few of the major points for technical aspects of sales.
