To All The Discouraged People...

Little tip today to copywriters looking to get started...

Instead of going out drumming up business cold calling with nothing to show, do this...

first, If you've read any of my past posts, you'll know I'm a firm believer in going out into the community you live in and getting started there. Too many people hide behind the internet and want business to come to them. You'll be shocked and amazed how much you can learn by getting out into your local community. It's like a little snowball that starts at the top of the hill then gets bigger as it rolls down. It's the million dollar secret most won't learn.

It's not easy. The first day you'll convince yourself you've got nothing. You'll tell yourself it sounds stupid. You'll come up with an excuse to put it off. Dont.

Always seems like the night before you convince yourself it's a great idea...and you're all ready to go...next day comes and...

I started from nothing. Lost everything a couple times. Homeless. Broke. Discouraged. Had all these big ideas when I went to sleep, but for some reason when the sun came up and it was time to do something, the whole plan fell apart.

Took some time to get my $%%^ together. Now I drive a Bentley, live in a beautiful house and have a lifestyle most would love to have. Have nothing to sell...and never will on here. Just passing along some useful stuff. Take it or leave it.

Here's a simple way to start...

1. Find a charity you'd like to support.

2. Go to local businesses and tell them you're doing a local coupon book to help the charity. Gets your foot in the door. If it's a recognizable charity...they'll listen.

3. Charge them a crazy low price of something like $40 to get in the book. A 20 page book only costs like $350 to print for 5000 booklets. They sell for $10. $50,000 in profit going to the charity. $2400 in donations. $2000 in profit.

4. Businesses love to donate to charity if it gets them recognized.

Ok, to make a long story short...we did this...

crazy results. Virtually every business we went to wanted in.

Here's the crazy thing...and the reason I made this post...

we talked to the businesses and asked them about their advertising, etc., crazy how many wanted to know more.

Try this and see it it works for you.

How do you ensure the business doesn't steal from you/pays you the full amount?

Some cause-oriented hackers recently hacked one of my websites. So I researched what they're about and then donated a large sum of money to the entity they hate the most.

The next time they hack one of my websites I'm going to donate DOUBLE.

How are the booklets distributed? Are batches of them given back to the businesses to hand out or are they delivered door to door? Are there any kind of contracts or agreements with the people that are letting you put their businesses into these booklets?

Who writes and designs all of the coupons?

    Congrats on the Bentley.

Don't think you understood my post.

Wasn't knocking the internet. Was trying to explain there's a lot of work that can be done in your local community.

Thing about doing the charity angle is you get your foot in the door and get a ton of leads.

      @alex

I understand you're kinda new at copywriting and don't get most of the drifts people offer, that's ok. Hope you do good with your training thing or whatever you're doing.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner. Got a ton of businesses I invest in or own and things are crazy busy...expecially this time of year.

I think what Max is saying here isn't really about copywriting, but that opportunity abounds even where you live. There's usually a favorite local charity no matter where you live, and businesses would gladly support it. I know a company that does something similar to this and makes load s of money just by selling ads that ultimately go on something the charity needs printed up regularly. In fact one of my WSOs outlines the plan I'm talking about in the bonus material. (I worked for that company I speak of for a short while, telemarketing for them when I needed a job.)

the downside for the quiet writer types is that it involves making sales calls or visits, but it's an easy sell compared to non-charity projects.

Imagine 3 Coupon Ads per page.

      3 x 20 pages = 60

      60 Ads x $40 = $2400 (donation)

      Less $400 printing = $2000 (profit)

Number of books sold x $10 cost per book goes to the charity.

Don't know about 5000 booklets for $400 as I am in the UK but one would simply adjust accordingly. Once you know the fixed cost of production, the other numbers are variables.

Thanks for sharing your story. I also believe that some of the best ideas are the simple one that require WORK.

..just a quick note to anyone making a coupon book: keep in mind that these will be torn out, so the back side should not be part of another company's coupon. You can stagger the ads/coupons on the page, or do one page (front+back) per business.
