To take action....job one of the copywriter, NO?

So, are we living up to the sub forum mission statement?
I think we are.
I also think this is an important goal for new people who want to learn how to write copy with the goal of becoming a high paid freelancer, and live the so-called "barefoot lifestyle"...
BUT, I'm seeing a lot of bog down and wading through slop because of the many ways and means to achieve this.
IF you have taken any course, or read any book, you need to start SELLING ASAP. Week one.
Recently, I rec'd an email from someone who is taking a copywriting course and is confused about the assignments.
Don't know who or what she is studying, but my opinion is...every copy writing lesson out there should have as it's goal...
means and methods
to learn how to persuade and/or influence
the reader
to take an action...if nothing else, the act of continuing on with their reading.
IF you are learning how to write copy, make sure you understand what the goal is...and don't get hung up on
gurus, Old or new ones
formulas
templates
magic words (without understanding their magic)
psychology
And above all else...
WRITE.
WRITE WITH INTENT. And know why you are writing...and to whom.
My OPINION is, any book or course or video on writing copy which confuses the student...
isn't a very good course.
