Lots of people want to know how to get started as a copywriter...

here it is in a simple package that will skyrocket you to the next level. You probably heard this before but hopefully this post will spark a fire in you that gets you started.

Find a product...

I did a post before on here about where to go and how to find a product (don't have time now to look it up).

Put up a website or send direct mail (postcards my favorite)

Keep rewriting or reworking your message till you hit a home run. May take a few writes and tweaks, but eventually you'll nail it.

Once you get successful at your own product, you'll have a hell of a resume to carry with you to anyone you talk to.

Right now is the best time of the year to get started.

I recommend Facebook...but you may prefer other methods. I like Facebook because it can be directed to your target market better than most advertising can. Facebook can be dirt cheap if you know the secrets of advertising on it. PM me and I'll send you a little known manual that will blow your mind on Facebook advertising (free or course).

There's no better way I know of to build a killer portfolio than picking a product and making a fortune off it. Actually, most people I know that start selling a product, never get to the "for hire" copywriter stage because they're making too much already.

Just thought I'd do a quick "get going" post for all those that are sitting around wondering what to do next.

There's a ton of money to be made out there...and it's time for you to get going and start cashing in.

I know this is a simple post...but hopefully it kicks you in the ass enough to realize there's money to be made...and if you're not making it then you need a little jump start to get you going.

You can do it...just start.

    max5ty,

Thanks for dispelling the whole -'seek clientele' myth, or the all-too-common; "put yourself out there and contact potential clients."

Honestly, I have a huge appetite for writing, and as an aspiring copywriter, the idea of having no formal earnings, success, or academic degrees... I have always felt the best freelance opportunity out there is to run tests using affiliate products and services.

I tested my theories a few years back on a one-off affiliate product. There were no upsells, no recurring payments, and the commission was low $27.

Spending only a couple hours, using a free blog, and with only basic knowledge of html (enough to add my affiliate links in images and text) - that 2 hour review article, with a few enticing calls-to-action, returned over $100 per hour, and still gets an occassional sale.

I stopped the test, as opposed to scaling up, as I realized; I needed a domain, website, autoresponder, some other tech related knowledge... So, I spent 2-3 years learning all that and more, in between working full-time offline.

Also, the offer I tested consisted of an opt-in to the salespage, whereas, I was building the vendors list, not my own. Oops!!!

Lastly, I have been on/off with the whole online marketing thing, so it wasn't ever my main focus. Hence, the few years it took to assemble everything.

If I can earn over $100 per article, build a list, and churn more sales through email... I agree, why would I seek to 'work' for someone else to pay me a percentage, when affiliate products and services already offer the same thing, only with far less risk or effort.

Not saying, I wouldn't enjoy writing for others or for brand name companies at some point, but starting off... Your thread makes perfect sense!

    Thanks,

    Art

PS - I'm gonna pm you for the fb ads training book, I could definitely use help there, as paid advertising is the next, and final component I need to learn in order to really start kicking @$$.
