The Story That Ended Yesterday
Work start date: Middle of Dec. 2015
Title: Sales Rep
Actual duties as of now: cold call/email daily, followup/close clients, perform product demos, write sales copy, write content for brochures/white paper, marketing ideas and implementation.
Starting out relatively new to both sales and marketing at a fresh business was quite difficult. Not only do I have literal prior knowledge of sales or proper marketing techniques, but the company has yet to establish many of these faucets for itself. For this reason, I am taking on some of the responsibility, while also having a voice in other areas. I want to be as involved as possible, in order to gain as much knowledge as I can.
Most of my work has been in writing brochure content, doing market research, brainstorming ideas, and cold emails. Besides this I have been reading books on relating subjects such as sales, psychology, and persuasion. I have learned a decent amount so far, but am very dissapointed with my results.
I have sent close to 100 emails, all personalized in some way, and have only received any type of response from 2 accounts. I have tried 6 different templates/letters, each being sent to atleast 10 accounts. And have confirmed little success with any of my copies. I would like to obtain a 10% response rating on all emails i send. With those responses I will aim for no less than 90% closing rate.
Here is the first sentence from one of my recent copies:
"Dear Reader,
Hello "name" my name is Jordan Armstrong and I wanted to reach out to you with a great opportunity that I think you would want to take advantage of, especially during the off season. "
Ill be rewriting all of my email copies this week, as well as making the content for a brochure. If anyone has experience with verbage/writing for the food/restaurant industry, I would greatly appreciate a PM or response.
