Question from a newbie

I've been writing professionally for quite some time, I've recently thrown my hat in the article marketing ring, I've done pretty well so far but I've had friends suggest I copywrite my articles for just a general precaution. How is this done?

As a general rule, if you write it you automatically own the "copyright" until you sell it or otherwise transfer it...

By the way this is a "copywriting" forum... Meaning we write sales copy, words that sell, ransom notes, whatever you want to call it. We don't offer legal advice on "copyrights"...

It's a common mistake though, I think you're the 3rd poster asking about "copyright" type of questions this week.
