I've read a lot of advice about how new copywriters can find early clients simply by contacting people on CB with low gravity, offering some advice, and hopefully that would lead to the person running the CB offer to pay.

However, I'm struggling with simply CONTACTING them. All I can seem to find is a webmaster form for these websites. How do you go about emailing the SPECIFIC person running the promotion?

Or have things changed and offering your services to people on CB is no longer a viable option?

I'm not a fan of that idea and here's why:

Most CB vendors that have products with horrible sales letters ...

    Don't have much money.

Nor do they have the "stuff" to get folks on-board even if they do roll out with a pretty good sales piece.

So the odds of you getting paid well are next-to-none.

Your results may vary, of course.

    But to me?

It's too much a roll of the dice. And the dice are loaded to come up snake-eyes, pretty much every single time.

P.S. I'd recommend you get a little clear on who your ideal client would be.

It's the same as getting to know your ideal buyer before you write your letter.
    • Who would be best as a client?
    • Who would be least price resistant as a client?
    • Who would be most likely to give you more than just a one-off gig?
    • Who sells what you already know you can sell well?
Good questions to ask. There are more. Just giving you a few to point you in a direction. It's very possible to have a thriving copywriting career with just a handful of clients. But not if you are fishing in the wrong pond.

Interesting question here my friend. I know personally that you should leave money making methods that are a west of time.

You can try to contact them via their domain info. Try http://whois.domaintools.com/ If they have not made their info private, you can usually find a contact number or at least a number that will lead you to the contact person you are looking for with a little more research.

You could do the same by going to chamber of commerce meetings, looking for badly written ads in magazines, newspapers, etc. Hell, you can look at all mail you get, contact the sender and tell them how changing xyz in the copy they sent you would have done them good.
