Five Surprising Tricks To Make You A Headline Writing Expert.
Have You ever wondered why some articles get read more than others?
Have you ever thought about what makes you as a reader continue to read one article over another?
The answer is simple. It's the headline. Think of newspaper articles or anything you see on the internet. Some headlines grab your attention and you feel compelled to read them. There is, believe it or not, an art form in creating headlines that grab the readers attention. And, in this short article, we are going to explore them.
There are 5 components to writing a compelling headline.
Emotional Component.
The emotional component in the headline contains words such as, Amazing, wonderful, warning, shocking, surprising, crazy, inspiring, fearful, woorried, scared, and so on.
Content Component.
The content component can be an image, a chart, a video, or a fact.
Topic Component.
This part of the headline can be anything from health, pets, love, games, children, cooking and a myriad of others.
Promise Component.
This component does exactly what it says. It promises to either, guide you, help you, improve you, allow you, make you, change you, teach you, bring you.
Format Component.
This is simply the way that the headline is presented. In the case of my headline, it is a list post. Other formats include a story type, or a quiz.
Now let's see how all that fits in with my headline.

First is the emotional component. In my case, this is the word 'Surprising'.
This immediately grabs the reader's attention who wonders "Oh I wonder what's surprising about this"
Second, the content component. The word 'Tricks'. I could have chosen 'Facts' or 'Ways' or 'methods' or many others.
Thirdly, the topic component. Which in this case is Headline Writing.
This will stand out to anyone who is interested in say writing solo ads and who wants inspiring headlines to improve email open rates.
Fourth, This is simply the way the headline is presented. In this case it is just for a list post, as in this article.
Fifth. And possibly the most important component. The person reading the headline wants to know, 'What's in it for me'. In my example it's the word expert. I can show you how to be an expert in this subject.
Now not all headlines need to contain all five components. But if they do, they will surely get read above other people's. So lets look at some examples and see if you can pick out the components in each.
