Modelling Best Sellers for Success In The Marketplace

Copywriters use swipe files.

The same concept can be used with best selling song titles, album titles and book titles with brainstorming software.

For example you could type in:
Rich Dad Poor Dad (That was a best seller that was catchy)
Among the words produced for 'Dad' you see the word 'Author'
Hmmm. This gives some interesting ideas.

How about modelling the concept for rich author, poor author?...Or rather 'Rich Self Publisher, Poor Self Publisher:

What words can we substitute for rich and poor?
Rich: atypical, funny, wealthy, prosperous, smart, expensive, flourishing, valuable, productive, prolific, industrious, fruitful,

Poor: unsuccessful, loser, broke, impoverished, hard up, short of money, strapped, mediocre, middling, average, ordinary, unexceptional, commonplace,

What does this give us for a title for a writing piece on the topic?

Maybe: "Prolific author, broke author."

Then to modify it more so it is unrecognizable from the original inspiration you could make something like:

"Prolific Authors vs. Broke Hacks"

Then for the general idea something like:

Interviews with 50 writers on what it takes to make it in the literary world.

Sample brief: From the trenches of the literary world, 1 interviewer goes undercover to learn the secrets and habits of successful writers and the mistakes of those who aren't making it.
etc....

Copywriting also largely applies to the general literary markets of songwriting and selling books in stores.

I think it would make for a good read anyways

    Sure.

I've attached a report with some all time great sellers. I don't know how much this will help for marketing sector - But if you compile a list of the best sellers from your intended niche on Amazon you may come up with an outstanding idea for a product launch.

I would probably just keep them in a text file and then brainstorm them.

Another example would be the book "Dreams of My Father".

Using this system I came up with a book title:

    "Predictions of Our Ancestors"

This could talk about how current events may relate to predictions made hundreds or thousands of years ago from people in different cultures.

I think there are formulas and it may be best to look to bestsellers for inspiration - Just like copywriters use swipe files.

Marketplaces are difficult businesses to run. Like all multi-sided platform businesses, they suffer from the classic chicken and egg problem: the technology has no value unless buyers and sellers are present and you can’t get the buyers on board unless you have sellers and you can’t bring in sellers without having buyers. Hence, building a marketplace is a lot like building two separate companies simultaneously, each dependent on the other.
